    Bud Depree

Don't have to worry about a second contract. Everything is wide for him, rush the passer to wide and can't set the edge.

It goes beyond him. We have a few sophomore slumps going on out there. Tuitt hasn't impressed me in weeks either.

This is coming from a guy who thought Tuitt was going to make Heyward look like a distant 2nd best D-Lineman this yr.

Dupree is not in a sophomore slump; it isn't a junior jinx either. He's just a more athletic Jarvis Jones, equipped with the same spider haircut. He's just a body out there, like Moats, Chickillo, or Spence. I don't know why they don't try harder to get their best players on the field. In this case, Harrison shouldn't be going in for Watt and vice versa... Watt is one of the best LBs, so is Deebo. So is Vicenzo. All those other bodies are the guys who should be platooning.
I wasn't hired for my disposition.

In the last 4 games Bud Dupree has 6 tackles, 2 assists and 1 sack, he's been non-existent, typically gets pushed up field on the pass rush and simply can't set the edge in the run game. IMO, the reason the lack of speed at ILB was so obvious was because Dupree can't set the edge and give those guys time to get there. Harrison and Watt should be on the field, Harrison isn't what he used to be but becuase of his strength he would at least help in the run game. Dupree, Spence, Moats, Fort and Chickillo shoule be giving players breathers not getting significant snaps, IMO.

Coach T says "the game has changed", and any LB needs to have the skills to fake a rush and then drop back in coverage. He pretty much implied JH doesn't have the skills to do the coverage part of the assignment. At least that's what I took away from his presser earlier this week.

He also offered strong praise for Dupree, saying the days of counting sacks to see how good the LB was playing are gone, for the same reasons noted above. If the #s posted somewhere here tonight are accurate (not many tackles at all for Dupree), he must be breaking up pass after pass to be having a good season ...?

That may be the case but, in a game where the Ratbirds ran the ball down our throats, Bust (who played all the normal snaps he usually plays) registered 1 tackle. That is only one more tackle than me.

                    Well, that’s not entirely fair...

I mean, Jarvis could at least set the edge...
Actually, my post was NOT about you...but, if the shoe fits, feel free to lace that &!+€# up and wear it.

Dupree is being asked to drop into coverage a whole bunch especially since the Haden injury. IMO...It has been noticeable that he is being asked to help the CB on that side. Anyone else seeing that too?

I didn't pay attention as much this week so I'm sure someone else can talk to the ravens game, but against the Bengals I thought he wasn't dropping back all that much and he got pushed around all game. His rush is ineffective. He's a big dude - 6'4" / 269. He should be a lot more disruptive.

All I know is we have to get pressure on Brady. We can't let him sit back there and knit baby booties on us.

Bud dropping into coverage has little to do with his play vs. the run.
He's been getting pushed around mightily these last few games.
I did read that Tomlins asked his OLBers to drop more so his sack numbers would obviously be down.
