Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

      Week 14 Injury Report (Ravens)

      Posted 7 minutes ago

A look at player injuries and practice participation for Week 14.

The obvious is known, the Steelers will be without Ryan Shazier when they take on the Baltimore Ravens at Heinz Field on Sunday night in a key AFC North matchup.

On Wednesday night UPMC neurosurgeons and Steelers team physicians Drs. David Okonkwo and Joseph Maroon performed spinal stabilization surgery on Shazier to address his spinal injury.

"All I am is hopeful that he gets well," said defensive coordinator Keith Butler. "I'm not worried about him playing for us again. I'm more worried about him and so I think y'all have been updated as much as we have so the thing that we're hoping for, praying for, that he comes back and he's going to be okay. The football stuff is secondary. His life is a lot more important to me than football."

With Shazier out, the Steelers will look to a combination of players to step up. One of them was to have been Tyler Matakevich, but he suffered a shoulder injury against the Bengals and didn't practice all week. He has been ruled out for Sunday.

"We have some guys that we're putting in there," said Butler. "We brought (Sean) Spence back. Spence knows the system pretty well. I had him when he was here. He'd been gone for about three years. We changed some stuff but he picks it up pretty fast. Very sharp young man. Arthur Moats is playing the other inside, too, so both of those guys might end up sharing the duty. We'll see what happens."

Antonio Brown, who battled a toe injury a week ago, missed practice on Thursday, but was back to work on Friday. T.J. Watt was limited in practice on Thursday, but he too was a full go on Friday and should be ready to play.

Mike Mitchell, who missed the Bengals game with an ankle injury, was a full participant in practice on Wednesday and Thursday, but was limited on Friday. He is questionable for the game.

Vance McDonald, who suffered an ankle injury against the Colts but still returned to the game to score his first touchdown in a Steelers uniform, was inactive for the Titans, Packers and Bengals games, but practiced all week and should play.

The Steelers will be without Joe Haden for the fourth consecutive week. Haden, who suffered a fractured fibula against the Colts on Nov. 12, is working on his rehab.

Here is the current injury report for the Steelers' Week 14 game vs. Baltimore.

I'm glad Zadarius smith is doubtful for the Rats, I hope he doesn't play. He's a dirty player. It seems like he gets a 15 yd penalty for late and dirty hits everytime we play them. Burfict-lite

Yeah, he hasn't exactly been the picture of durability since we traded for him, but the timing of this post is somewhat odd, since he was able to practice fully all week, has no official injury designation at this time, and is in line to play on Sunday.

Antonio Brown off injury report, toe “feeling much better”

Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown sat out of practice on Thursday because of the toe injury that led to a questionable designation for last Monday’s game against the Bengals, but it doesn’t look like it will be an issue for him against the Ravens.

Brown was back for a full practice on Friday and he does not appear on the team’s final injury report of the week.

“I never want to play a game without practicing,” Brown said, via the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. “That’s not ideal for me. I’m a guy who wants to be out there and take every rep to get a great feel and preparation. But last week was less fortunate for me. It was a challenge. I was grateful I was able to pull through, but I’m grateful for this week and excited about this opportunity to be out there with my guys. The arrow’s pointed up. I’m feeling a lot better.”

Brown had eight catches for 101 yards and a touchdown against the Bengals, so any limitations were small ones last time out. That should make Brown quite a test for a Ravens secondary that will play without cornerback Jimmy Smith for the first time since he tore his Achilles.

Nothing specific, but a great article over at Depot from a doctor who dissects the injury (with the caveat that she is not Haden's doctor) and discusses the timeline. She thinks he is better than 50/50 for NE.

Most of the Pittsburgh beat reporters are putting Joe Haden at 50/50 to play in the Week 15 game against the Patriots. Maybe I’m just an optimistic fan, but I have that game circled on my calendar for the cornerback’s return to the starting line-up. And the timing couldn’t be better. http://www.steelersdepot.com/2017/12/doctor-circle-patriots-game-joe-hadens-possible-return/
