    4 int's

I know folks want to give Ben the crown and I will admit he played well but fella's. This defense had 4 INT's. When you have short fields it makes the day so much easier.

I hope this is a sign of things to come. They still got burned a few times. Damn Artie, but all in all it was a solid effort. We really need to lock down these WR's though, sure seems like they are having an easier time finding holes in are secondary these last few weeks.

Steelers do something they haven’t done in 33 years

Posted by Mike Florio on November 17, 2017, 7:17 AM EST

Through nearly two generations of impressive defensive performances by the Pittsburgh Steelers, they did something on Thursday night that they haven’t done in more than 33 years.

As noted during NBC’s broadcast of the Titans-Steelers game, the Steelers had their first four-interception, five-sack performance since October 1. Of 1984.

That was a Monday night game against the Bengals at Three Rivers Stadium. And that stirred a very vivid memory for yours truly. In 1984, I was a sophomore in college, and my roommate and I decided to drive to Three Rivers Stadiumt and buy tickets to the game from a scalper. The budget: $25 each.

Unfortunately, the going rate for tickets outside the venue, back when people actually sold tickets outside a venue, was $55. So we circled Three Rivers Stadium past kickoff, looking for something more in line with the budget of $50 for two.

As the game went on, the price never dropped. Even at halftime, they still wanted $55.

I remember saying to one of the scalpers, “Enjoy not selling those tickets.”

The response: “Enjoy not watching the game.”

If we had, we would have seen what turned out to be the four-pick, five-sack performance from the Pittsburgh defense before last night.

And now you’re asking yourselves, “Did he point out that stat simply so that he could wax nostalgic about a night from 1984?”

The answer: Yes. I absolutely did.

Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

It was a solid performance all the way around - especially in the 2nd half. Offense, Defense, Special teams. Our defense still scares me a little but there's a lot to be excited about. Four interceptions is amazing but 2 of them were gimme's.

Getting the cheaters at home is a big plus. I really hope we can keep building momentum. We have the talent to beat anyone.

I loved, loved, loved that we threw the ball 40+ times. This is what Tomlin has said for years that he wants to be able to do - like the cheaters do. Adjust your game plan to what the defense will give you. One week it could be mostly runs. The next mostly pass. The next a good balance. It was clear that the Titans were all-out to stop the run. It was so nice to see us change gears and let Ben fly.

I am ecstatic about last nights performance, probably to a fault - because I expect the offense to revert back at some point to their old ways, as seen by their lack of consistency. However, that sure was fun to watch! The offense (finally) had a 2017 high octane, sleek-feel, to it! I loved the short passing game and using the passing attack to set up the run, so to speak. No forcing LB into the pile for 2 yards. Did you notice how quick we got into the red-zone using those short 5-7 yard passes? That looked NE style!!! Please, give me more???

I kept dropping the price every few days, but they still weren't selling, so the morning of the game, I just decided that I at least wanted to get something for them instead of going completely empty handed, so I ended up reducing it to half off face value, and they finally sold a few hours before gametime.

You would think that it would be a desirable ticket for a primetime game that's a potential AFC playoff preview between a 7-2 team vs. a 6-3 team, with Dick LeBeau coming back to Pittsburgh for the first time (plus a half dozen other former Steelers on that coaching staff) and Mike Munchak playing his former team as well...but what do I know?

It's somewhat disheartening that Florio's scalper was looking for more money for his ticket in October of 1984 to see a 2-2 Steelers team in the David Woodley era vs. an 0-4 Bengals team, than I got for my ticket last night. It's crazy.

But we only scored 9 points off of those 4 turnovers, the bulk of Ben's performance was not done on a short field.

So you are attributing last nights 4 int's to the solid play of Robert Golden? I probably don't have to tell you this but Golden wasn't very good last night and he isn't very good period.

                          Neither is Mitchell..
I think we play a different type of defense w/o Mitchell in there.

We play the same defense when Mitchell is in the game, the difference last night was pressure up front and Mariota made some awful passes, we weren't exactly plastered all over the receivers.
