We do. Randy Fichtner has been with the Steelers since Tomlin took over in 2007...

He started out as our WR coach and moved to QB coach when Ken Anderson retired...

He has never been an OC at the NFL level (the Steelers are the only NFL franchise he's coached for) but he was a successful OC at the D1 college level: DeAngelo Williams was a first round pick after running wild in Fichtner's offense...
Actually, my post was NOT about you...but, if the shoe fits, feel free to lace that &!+€# up and wear it.

Tomlin didn't hire Haley? Since when?

A QB and OC that are second-guessing each other is not a recipe for long term success. One or the other might have to go after this season.

And some of this is on Ben. He's been flapping his gums a lot over the past year on issue after issue and airing dirty laundry seemingly without consequence. He is the QB, not the team ombudsman. A few weeks ago he was on the radio with Cook and Fillipponi and when asked questions about why certain plays were called, he was making dismissive comments about having to ask "Coach Todd" and basically suggesting that Haley calls the plays and Ben just executes, and that includes going deep and no huddle.

I've never been a big Haley fan, but Ben's inability to throw the ball accurately might have something to do with why "Coach Todd" hasn't given Ben the leash he is used to. Just saying.

My first reaction was that they needed to go to 2.

Then, when they were lining up I thought "if they don't get it and the Colts score a TD the game is over" but "if we're down by 1 and they score a TD we can still tie it with a TD and 2pt".

So, I think that I might have kicked the XP even before the penalty. I wouldn't have gone for 2 after the flag.

Depends on how much you trust the D (which is a "break but don't bend" unit).

It was pretty widely speculated that Haley was forced on Tomlin. At the time, Tomlin was on record saying that he wanted Arians back. And then Rooney "retired" Arians and brought in Haley.

Wow...down 8 in the 4th quarter and you score a TD...to me, kicking a PAT wasn't even an option on the table at that point...going for 2 is the automatic choice.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

My thoughts exactly, as in the other thread.

I hope someone asks Haley in his PC whether he really wanted to do a PAT, and if so, why.

                      Okay. If you choose to
                      believe in speculation, that’s cool.

I believe Tomlin’s exact words were, “I anticipate continuity,” (which sounds like a very Mike Tomlin thing to say). There is wiggle room there...

He was on auto-pilot thinking - we took a penalty, so time to kick a an XP. Instead of looking at the possible scenarios

                        It was 17-15
-We get the 2pt and tie 17-17
-We miss the attempt at either and stay at 17-15
-We make the extra point and go 17-16

In each scenario, a FG for us wins. So, why not try to tie the game in case you need to play for overtime?

If they fire Haley, I would contact Norv Turner because his offenses typically are pretty good and with Ben's window clsoing I'd rather have a veteran for a couple years and then move on when Ben retires.

No one but Rooney and Tomlin knows for sure. But there was enough chatter about it being forced on him that it holds some weight.

Haley had some success with our offense. But 9 games in at this point, it's still such a cluster (and Ben clearly doesn't like him) that I wouldn't mind seeing a change. Remember when the Rats fired their OC during the season? I seem to recall that energizing them.

But for heaven's sake, please change SOMETHING. Where's all the no-huddle that's been talked about for years? Come out featuring that. The offense right now is predicable. Surely between Ben, Haley, Fictner and others, they can come up with something (that hopefully doesn't include a MB reverse).

tomlin told arians he was going to ask the rooneys for more money for arians. he not only came back with no more money, he didnt even come back with a contract.
rooneys fired arians. that has been pretty much common knowledge for years now. rooney hired haley. kinda hard not to see that.
haley and arians might have been alright when ben was in his prime. right now tho, haley isnt right for bens ability
i think haley, along witht the rest of us, are waiting for the old ben to emerge.
i just dont think he will.
lets see if the coaches can make the appropriate adjustments
