you know how rumors fly in the 'burgh. it was the early 80's, drugs were on the rise - and for whatever reason, dan developed the reputation of a party guy who was hitting some lines. I seem to recall also that his junior year was awesome but there was a dropoff in his senior year. all those facts combined to have him fall in the draft. I also have memories of conversations after the fins picked him up along the lines of 'shula won't put up with any crap. he'll straighten him out'.......

I also personally experienced danny throwing me some serious shade in 88 - but that's a story for another day.......
