i have a feeling that todays performance (win or lose) will be the defining moment on where ben is at in his career.
i cant remember him ever being this scrutinized, embarrassed, challenged and doubted his entire career. (on the field)
if he cant rise to this challenge today, i think he is done. physically and mentally

I'd have to agree, that this is a great spot, where a competitor can prove his doubters wrong. Most competitors play with that chip on their shoulder. Think of how many guys refer to a perceived slight in the draft, as motivation to stick it to teams. This is just like that. Loads of talking heads have doubted him. Stephen A. said he should straight retire. This is an opportunity for him, all the motivation anyone (that still has it) would need to play well. I agree that he needs to show something... if he plays like he has the first 5, then I agree it looks bad. I keep saying this too--he has the best skill position guys around him, so it is even easier for someone in his situation right now.

I think Ben answered that he wasn't going to collapse in a heap. Beyond that, it's still not clear in my mind whether he learned enough from last week to bring us to Lombardi #7.

That was a horrible pass to AB, in double coverage. He'd been playing smart enough up until that point, then he made exactly the kind of mistake he made last week x 5 ... if this one had been pic'd like it had every right to be ... I think that would have been the end of our season.

The offense was a disgrace today. All stats. Their inability to score TDs is ridiculous. The D saved them today. It's sickening to watch this team flounder when it comes to scoring a TD.

I was thinking he is like Peyton Manning that one year they won the SB or John Elway in his last year--serviceable version of his old self, but clearly not what he used to be. Ben may be a little better than that, but I won't expect him to do anything accept not lose the game for us and make sustain drives. This is a far cry from what I thought was the most stacked offense ever, but... given his decline and the handcuffs put on him by an inept OC, it is what it is.

(BTW, I posted names of winning guys, but you could also say he is final year version of Brett Favre, and current Eli too.)

Early in his career he was criticized as being just a game manager. Then he evolved into this gunslinger role out of necessity because he had to improvise to compensate for years of poor OL personnel. As we built A-list talent around him with both big uglies in the trenches and the skill positions, Ben started having career statistical success....
Dissecting defenses with dink/dunk precision warfare was never his forte. I have no problem with him coming full circle as a game manager, and guiding the young talent around him to #7.

poor decisions and still forcing the ball to AB.
he can luck his way to a few wins but cant expect the lucky bounce, awesome defense or bad game by opponent every week.
