Too many weapons and no identity on offence.

I believe at this point Ben is or could be a GREAT game manager for several more seasons if his role and mentality were to change.
I think we have the best wide out and the best RB in the game today. Problem is there is only so many snaps. We need to give Bell the rock and be a running team with Ben managing short quick pass plays or trade Bell for a high draft pick (QB) and be a dink and dunk pass first team. Any RB can support that as long as they can block. Our offence does not know who they are. We have too many play makers and between Ben and Halley non are getting it done.
Defense is a much worse problem, I truly believe it's in the coaching and schemes.

    Your thoughts......

I don't believe that the Defense is a "Much worse" problem., but I do agree that our problems have more to do with "Scheme" than most would realize.

The whole idea behind Haley ball was, in theory, mega doses of "Dink and dunk" to extend Ben's career by decreasing the number of shots he was taking (versus the BA era). Id agree with the "Game manager" part.. Part of what has made Ben the player he has been historically... was his ability to extend plays with his feet...and improvise once the play broke down. That's the biggest piece that you don't see anymore. Ben's mobility appears to be gone.

        defense is fine.
        offense blows
team hasnt had a positive identity in over 10 years. our defense isn't feared and our offense is gimmicky, finesse loaded with all pro primadonnas that coaches cant coach or control on the field or in the locker room.

          This scheme sucks.

The rest of the NFL realizes it. No one wants to hire Haley other than his buddy Art II.

I don't see the mobility, but agree the scheme sucks.

Defense is fine???? Against the two most physical offensive lines we've faced we've been dominated.

the offense is an absolute joke right now

when some of us tried to point out that the offense was underperforming and playing well below their potential, the real fans said it was just rust and some were only happy when we win 50-0

that argument looks pretty dumb now as we sit here 3-2 in the easiest part of the schedule

                      Our defense is fine?
We played the NFL's 28th,25th,21st,20th and 7th ranked offenses.
There is room for improvement on defense.

Pete, I agree with you that there is room for improvement on Defense. I don't think there's a phase in our game (other than maybe pass defense) that is playing well. It's also interesting that you pointed out the ranking of the Opponent's offenses that we have played so far. I'm thinking ours ranks up there in the 20s somewhere as well.

You think the D is fine, we have played no top tier QB's as of yet. Just wait. We get ran on like a mac truck coming thru with no big worry of a pass game, wait until the D has to worry about both.

Looked to me like a handful of miscommunications between WRs and Ben on what they saw vs what he saw.

Found myself actually wanting Eli Rogers out there (hasn't he been punished enough for the muffed punt - he woulda made a couple of catches that were directed toward Hunter and hit the ground). Having both him and JuJu are simply too many first year steelers on the field at the same time - half your WRs in a 4 WR set. Just didn't seem that Ben trusted them and he started just going AB (who had like 17 targets by the time it was over).

the defense still isn't very good at stopping the run. I saw a stat that they had only allowed one 100 yard game during a 2 year stretch or something like that. But, during the last 16 games, they've allowed 6... (again, i may be off a bit, but the point remains).

I still say the hugeass NT (that requires a double-team and frees up players) is underrated in the 34 defense. It's magnified when you're trailing and can't stop the run. So many folks said, "a 2-down player" wasn't worth it. They forget how important those 2 downs can be when you're trailing. All downs are not created equal.
