What kind of beer and how many??? I can pick it up for you guys. LEt me know
I figure 30 or so beers should be good...any beer is cool by us. Yuenglings are cool. I just want to come by and meet you guys and then head into the game early to eat the gyro's (sp) and drink more.
They do sell gyros in the great hall, but how can you come all the way across the country to the Burgh and not have a Primanti's? (they sell the Pitts-burger & capicola and cheese at the stadium).

As for the tailgate, I still have to talk to my father about it, but we will likely not be able to make it over to parking lot if you folks will be there from 8:00-1:30 or so (that is basically the time period that we are on the road driving from NEPA to SWPA). I don't drink anyway (seriously) and my Dad and I can just grab a bite to eat on the road at some point to break up our trip a bit, so it's no big deal. I definitely want to meet up with all of you folks in the hour or two before kickoff in Nation at the South Plaza. We should hopefully be arriving at Heinz somewhere in the neighborhood of two or three o'clock depending on traffic, parking, etc. Looking forward to seeing you all there!

We'll be eating the Primanti's action too...we all love to eat! LOL We can all meet in the south plaza as well that works for me...
ours is not to wonder why just invert and multiply...

Since you have a small army to feed, you can also hit up the Quaker Steak and Lube booth for a bucket of wings as well. Last time I grabbed food at the stadium, I tried buffalo chicken nachos right on the South plaza. Many options...
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

Arrive at the tailgate lot by 8 am. Yes, 8 am. That way I'll have plenty of time to...drink, gamble, and tailgate, what else??? I usually head into the stadium a few hrs prior to kickoff and this game I'll probably be heading in around 1:30. If you want to come and tailgate with me, my pops, my nephew, and about 4-6 others, feel free to stop by. I'll be in the Mercy Behavioral Health building parking lot where Reedsdale St. turns into Fontella Ave.

CLICK STREET VIEW AND YOU"LL SEE THE EXACT LOT!

My buddy John (coming to his 5th game this year from Chicago!) wants to cook but we havent decided what is on the menu. I'll be honest, I dont tailgate for the food, I tailgate for the beer/good times. I'll have the grill so if you want to cook something, bring whatever you'd like.

Another must---bring some cash. We gamble at our tailgate. We play double-elimination tournaments of cornhole and a game called shut-the-box (dice game). The past two weeks, I've gone into the stadium with more cash than I came with.

Of course, you don't have to gamble, but we'll all peer pressure you, so JUST DO IT!

Our cooler space is limited, so I would suggest bring a disposable cooler if you can.

Add to the thread and lets game this thing going. 1st, beat the *Pats...then we'll tailgate it, SN1 style..
Just in case we can make it to the tailgate...on the satellite view of the map link you provided, is your lot the small empty one right across Sproat Way from the SportsWorks building, or is it the large one filled with carsright across the street from that small empty lot?

Thanks, SN1. We'll see whether we can make it to the tailgate or not, but in any event, we will certainly be there to hang out with everybody in the south plaza.

Just a general question...weren't they supposed to start building the Majestic Star casino over there on the other side of the Carnegie Science Center somewhere? I know Don Barden was having some financial issues the last I heard, so I wasn't sure if groundbreaking and construction ever got underway, but I was just curious since I always park downtown for game and am never on the other side of Heinz where you tailgate.

Agreed. Or maybe some "Hello My Name is ______" tags would be nice. It's much better
than walking around the stadium yelling, "is there an SN1 here? I'm looking for SN1."

Seriously, I wish I had some tickets to this game. I'm done for the year unless I get a
                playoff ticket through ticketmasterbater.

Maybe we can organize a tailgate party for a game next year.

This is an excellent idea!!! If you can get a deal with someone online (Cafe Press, Zazzle.com) for promotional stuff, Planet Steelers swag, etc. that would go a long way toward promoting the site. Also consider, that doing this is a good way to raise funds for the site at the same time you are promoting what we have going on here to others.

Also, Jiggy's idea of earmarking a game for, what I would call, a PlanetSteelersStock is a great way for the people here to meet and greet each other while enjoying the atmosphere of a Steelers home game. Do it early enough in the off-season and that will give plenty of time to create buzz for the event.

Ducats for games are a luxury, at this point, that is just slightly beyond reach. That's why I earmark a "tailgate" game at least once a year.

Name tags would be, shall we say, necessary. Kind of like not having names on the back of the jersey. It's a little more difficult to tell the players without the ID.

But your idea for the tailgate, Jiggs, is an excellent choice. I think it might have been floated here before. But it never hurts to bring up the subject again.

RB: It's too bad that you won't be making down to the tailgate, but it's completely understandable under the circumstances. But coming in for the game is the most important thing.

As I mentioned to Jiggy, the ducats are just slightly beyond the budget right now. When the Ol' Lady is going to school and the Ol' Man (yours truly) is planning to return, you watch the pennies a little.

But, being in Cleveland, we've decided that coming down to simply be in the atmosphere is a harmless and relatively inexpensive way of getting around the game feel and not having a Clueless Clowns Crank drunkenly deliver a verbal beat down. I like having the feeling of being "in" the atmosphere of a Steelers game as often as I can...and coming down for the tailgate is a good way to do that.

You guys do enjoy coming in, though. And when you drive 7 hours, one way to do that, that is surely admirable.
