Penalty assessed prevents the 2 point conversion attempt, which itself is retarded when you are up 6-0 in the 1st Quarter. I'll look at the bright side: I suppose if our head coach has a boneheaded 2 point conversion fetish and our team has selfish and immature players, at least in this case the two canceled each other out.
Bryant TD celebration hurts team

I think it's time to hire a full time choreographer on the coaching staff. Then we can at least have unique celebrations on each scoring play.
While the O still looks rusty, their celebrations need as much work as their production. Wonder how many hours a week they practice celebrations. At least in that phase of the game, the players look a little more
in sync.sigpic -

I'm cutting MB a little slack. That was a great catch and run and it's been a long journey for MB to get back to this point. He deserves a bit of spotlight. That said, hopefully he and his dance partners can shorten things up a bit so they won't shortchange the extra point.Comment

In my opinion...Tomlin just allows too much undisciplined actions from his players with this " Hip-Hop "
" Mack Daddy " BS celebrating. And it shows in many areas of the way we play at times. No way would this BS ever happen under Cowher.Comment

I can't think of a more idiotic penalty than getting busted for acting like a retard. Even Pacmuff Jones' jacking a referee penalty in the playoffs makes more sense. And yet we see people defending it as entertaining or harmless or some kind of boyish exuberance. Hogwash!Comment

I'm not sure what the rules are for the playclock after a TD. I thought they had to give a few moments for the officials to review the score (since all scores and turnovers are reviewed) and then they start the clock. Besides, the team has to tell the officials if they are going to kick or go for to so they know where to spot the ball and THEN the clock should start. But it was going almost instantly and it was clear from the steelers sidelines they were all surprised it ran out.
TD's happen, there's a celebration and then the extra point try happens. I didn't sense anything absurdly long with MB's - but as they were lining up for 2 the clock was almost at zero. Even I shouted for the officials to reset it. I think the clock guys screwed up.2014 MNF EXEC CHAMPION!!!Comment

Well, the idea is that this sort of thing will bite us in the backside some game when it matters so that was the point in bringing it up. Although nothing is likely to change given how long this has been going on. Happy to see Steelers win and happy to see Bryant play a major role. Here's hoping he continues to play well and celebrate less or not at all (my preference).Comment

I think the Steelers players (and coaches should be making sure they know this) should be aware of a new rule this season - the 40 second play clock for the point-after touchdown now begins immediately from the moment the official signals touchdown. The officials got it right. They didn't start the clock early based on the new rule.
The Steelers waited for the celebration to complete b/f running the team out to try the 2 pt conversion. Should have had the O running out right away if going for 2 so that's on the coaches. The second TD they had the kicking team on the filed while the "dice rolling" was going on and didn't have an issue with time.sigpicComment

I missed the celebration. Sounds like the playclocking was a little fast to start. I watched a few games and seen a bunch of players doing similar group celebrations and not once did the playclock start that fast. Then again, they all kicked FG's and didn't try for 2.Steelers 27

Here’s a direct quote from the Associated Press:
"There is no set time limit on how long such celebrations can continue. But the league is placing an emphasis on speeding up the pace of games. The 40-second play clock will begin once an official signals a touchdown and teams will have to snap the ball for their extra-point play by the end of the clock.”sigpicComment
