All these pro bowlers, 1st round offensive linemen, best receiver in football, franchise qb, a goof RB that wants 17mil and what do you have? Mediocrity at best. This offense constantly struggles. There were no holes in the running game even though the browns had 2 deep all game. Is it the play calling? Is it Ben? Too many primadonas?
Let’s stop stroking this offense

Get rid of Haley and you get rid of the problem.http://img525.imageshack.us/img525/2...eelers2010.jpgComment

Well, let's see what happens over the next month or so...if you're going to hold people out of preseason (or have the league hold you out...or hold yourself out, like Bell) then you're going to have rust and timing as a problem...you preserve your star players, but sacrifice some preparation...Actually, my post was NOT about you...but, if the shoe fits, feel free to lace that &!+€# up and wear it.Comment

MAYBE you get rid of a contributor to a problem. Maybe. But Haley didn't cause all the penalties. He didn't drop all those balls. He didn't miss blocks and hold guys.
The only two stars that practiced together all camp long, took over the game and won it. Let's give'em a few weeks together before we decided that Haley can't get something out of Bryant, Bell, Juju, etc...Comment

It's ok, it happens... the other team gets paid too and I'm sure they were trying to win.Steelers 27

Wowww! Deja vu!!!! That sounds soooo familiar except it went like "get rid of Arians and you get rid of the problem"
Perhaps it is the guys executing not the guys calling plays...just a thought.
I don't think Haley taught, or called, Ben to overthrow receivers of J2S2 to hold or for Bell to be unprepared"My team, may they always be right, but right or wrong...MY TEAM!"Comment

Read, and then get a grip:
The first Sunday of the NFL season ended with a final flourish of wan incompetence. Eli Manning tossed a useless throw in the direction of Brandon Marshall to the left flat, time running out as the ball bounced near the 30-yard line as the New York Giants trailed, 19-3. Even if Marshall had caught the pointless pass, it would not have counted, because the Giants had not lined up properly and drew a flag.
It marked both a nadir in quality and a fitting cap to Sunday’s offensive ineptitude. All day, teams flailed in attempts to form an offense, and not just those with unproven quarterbacks. Six teams — the Giants, Bengals, Seahawks, Texans, 49ers and Colts — failed to crack double digits in points. It would be fair to give partial credit to good defense. But when teams fail to reach 10 points in fully half of Sunday’s games, it represents an epidemic.
How to explain the terrible offense out of the gate?
...The proper explanation is an intractable issue: NFL football is too dangerous to responsibly prepare for, and the preseason is broken because of it.Comment

We had some plays set up where we would have got some nice yack out of Bell n Bryant n McDonald had they not dropped passes. Guys were getting open but we just need to execute better and that includes not being in 2nd n long all day because of our own mistakes concerning penalties.Comment

I was just going to post the same thing Ovi... there was a lot of Arians hate on this board for our previous OC (though I did remember an inordinate amount of ineffective bubble screens back in the day). I will attribute it to timing issues and rust from players either being re-integrated back into the system on the offensive side of the ball or the infusion of new cogs on the defensive machinery. Familiarity should help with execution. Ugly win... But it was a win.Comment

While that's true, I think we can all admit that the product on the field was not very exciting to watch until AB took over. We have very high expectations for this season and it's difficult to watch the killer B's look so pedestrian for much of the game.Comment
