We may need to call back Antwone Blake.
we drafted Sutton, Brian Allen and also acquired Sensobough...

just because we waited one more round doesn't mean we failed to address our concerns with the secondary. I also think the hate for Cockrell is overblown. He wasn't the weak link nor the reason we lost last year.

The fact that the front office DID address CB in the off season is just lost on those who wanted a panic grab of a player they have no clue will be successful.

The bigger secondary concern IMO is our complete lack of Safety depth past our starting two

agreed that the FO tried to address CB. In addition to the draft and acquisitions, we have to keep in mind that the FO also had Golson "In their hip pocket" so to speak.. a #2 pick from two years ago.

As has been stated, safety depth scares me.

I doubt we counted Golson in our equation when drafting

At the time, he was in the equation... or else they wouldn't have kept him around as long as they did. He was taking reps with the #1s last year before he got hurt.

lets all agree that they knew the secondary hasnt been good for quite awhile, tried to address it, but failed once again..either thru selection or coaching

in all seriousness... I haven't given up on this group eventually being solid. I like their 5th round pick. He's got high end potential down the road. I just wish they would have pulled the trigger on a solid CB in the off season. I am not sure Sensabaugh fits that mold.

Nah... he's always been hurt which is why we drafted and acquired 4 or 5 CB's in the off season.

you can't factor in the hamstring (yea we are all frustrated)... because it hadn't happened at that point. We acquire CB's every offseason... so that argument is dead. Like I said, if they had written him off...they would have waved him previously. In fact, there are cuts currently taking place... but I have yet to see him pop up, even though he is once again injured. Im not saying I have a different outlook on Golson than you do... im just saying they had hopes prior to training campe...that he was going to be a factor this year.

Just read over at nfl.com that Broncos may be fielding offers for TJ Ward. Does he play Mitchells spot? I wonder if Mitchell is going to be injured (whether he plays or not) all season again and they are just hoping he can play thru it like a couple years ago. If nothing else it's depth. At 4.5 million I think we might be able to afford him.

Did Tomlin and Colbert feel our corners were magically going to improve over the off season ? Taking Juju Smith was a another lost opportunity in selecting another corner. Juju is giving me that feeling of a bad omen with injuries. Hopefully he never gets injured again but, we are stacked with receivers IMHO. The secondary was the place to address through the draft that , had slim pickings at our draft positions but, being that our Steelers are probably a a good corner away from making the Super Bowl, FA and deals may have been able to be made. On the other hand, maybe they did try.

we all hoped he would pan out. I was a big fan of the pick at them time cause I watched him shine vs Bama. However, after his second injury I lost faith. While I hoped he would pan out I definitely didn't think of him when the draft came around.

Me, personally... I held the same view of him going into the draft (in that I felt he was on the outside looking in). Maybe the same holds true with the front office... but I don't think they had given up on him at that point. Part of me says they may still try to keep him around this year on the practice squad... to see if he can stay healthy. Time will tell.
