    Updates on Golson and Sutton

According to Jacob Klinger, Sutton will participate in team drills this week.

Golson still can't sprint and won't practice this week. He also said that he wasn't able to run pain-free until June or July. Unfortunately, I think this is the end for him. I'll be shocked if he can even make the PS. What a shame.

sucks for Golson.. it's crazy how some athletes finally get to fulfill their dream and then injuries kill it before it starts

Practice squad would not be a lock but it may be a good option. Hell if he does get it together at an area which may be our weakest this slot corner like an old slot machine may still pay off.

Disappointing for Golson as I had high hopes for him this year. How do you go from never injured in college to never healthy in the pros? Oh, well! Keep turning over stones until you find that diamond.....

It said that after the Lis Franc injury in training camp last season, he wasn't able to run pain free until this June or July.

It did not say that the hamstring injury during this camp will prevent him from running pain free until next June or July.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

yup. completely agreed on hopes for this year AND his injury history. the most disturbing part, is "our luck"... they'll cut him and he'll end up being a pro bowler elsewhere...

Just draft 6 Cornerbacks every draft and all will be well

I still think it is worth trying to keep him around. No way does he deserve making the active roster, but as you say, he has/had a pretty high ceiling. Even in considering him vs. his compatriot Mike Hilton: Hilton has clearly earned a place on the team, but I doubt anyone thinks he can be a starting caliber player like some might still say Golson can.

Try and get him through to the Practice Squad. If he gets through, great. We can keep him around and hopefully, finally get a real look at him. If some team wants to put him on their active roster and scoop him up well, good luck with that...
I wasn't hired for my disposition.

Yeah, I should have clarified that the statement related to his Lis Franc injury. In any event, I think it serves to highlight the severity of that injury.

I feel bad for Golson. I really do. I'd love to see him make the PS and eventually make his way onto the roster. I'd love for him to turn into what the Steelers were hoping for when they drafted him. But at this point, I think even the PS may be a long shot given that he isn't healthy yet.

I may be wrong but I thing Ruthless' point is that the reference to June, July was about 2017 and NOT next season.

Golson is done. Stashing him on the PS doesn't make sense to me. By this time next year it will be 3 years since he played a meaningful football game. Had high hopes for the guy but I just don't see it happening.

Understand your Point of View, but if you are going to have a DB on the PS....why not him? You thought enough of him to draft him in the 2nd Round. I say sign him and if he doesn't progress physically by mid-season you can cut him loose

because there are better and healthier players?

I mean, if there is room then sure, try it but if it's between him and a younger player who showed promise in the preseason you have to go with the other player and cut your losses.

If he is healthy, I agree with that. But if he is not healthy and not able to practice, the team will need an able body. We tend to think of the PS as a place to develop players. To a lesser extent, it is, but the primary purpose is to have enough practice players.

If you only have room for one corner on the P.S. and the choice is between Golson and Brian Allen, then yeah, you take Allen and cut your losses with Golson.

But if you are choosing between Golson and a Greg Ducre or Brandon Dixon, then take a shot with Golson on the P.S.
