So far we are running more 3 receiver formation in camp so whoever the slot guy is, he'd better make himself available to Ben to get the ball out of his hands if need be. I think it would be insulting for Rodgers to work as hard as he's been working justvto get his position taken away. That would be a terrible example to the team

You could not be more wrong.
The Pats scored 36. They NEVER HAVE LOST a playoff game when scoring that much. They absolutely get beat by Brady not getting his.
Patriots playoff loss scoring:

34...Peyton's revenge...the only time Brady ever scored over 22 and lost a playoff game.

The facts of how the Pats lose is EXACTLY what you say it is not. You DONT WIN SHOOTOUTS, you beat them with defense.Last edited by Captain Lemming; 06-10-2017, 02:20 AM.sigpic
In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

Said it many times, we should have traded up for Awuzie, who many here wanted in the first who predictably got snapped up by the CB starved Cowboys a mere TWO SPOTS ahead of us. Easy to make the deal since it was just 2 spots.Actually who did you and Captain want instead of JuJu? I want to know so I can see how these guys do in comparison to Sutton. Keep in mind a rookie DB, any one, is rarely a highly impactful player. I don't think that enough credence is given to the development that Davis and Burns should make. These guys are not going to be exactly the same as they were last year. As least give it some time before the doomsayer decide everything will just be the same. I am still optimistic that the secondary will step up higher this year, but pressure is going to be a needed commodity. And the receiving corps could definitely use a player like JuJu. If they drafted another typical, non physical receiver, I would disagree with receiver also.
Our "third round DB", I gather you, Captain Lemming, and "kid" and everyone against drafting JuJu are writing off Cameron Sutton. I think he might have been drafted higher if he didn't have a fractured fibula. I really like this guy and think he will be a factor. He is a very smart young man with good skills. He apparently wasn't someone that you thought well of before the draft so he is getting short shrift. I am going to track this. How the guys you and Captain wanted so desperately in the second round stack up against the "3rd round DB" Cameron Sutton going forward.sigpic

I repeat...
You don't JUST beat NE with defense. You have to score TD's and not turn the ball over.
Cmon dude. You are better than this. You have to actually read what I wrote.Steelers 27

I had Awuzie in my mock. Obviously we didn't want him or didn't think he was worthy of a first round grade. One of his negatives in the scouting report was his tackling. Maybe that's why we didn't try to get him?Steelers 27

Is that the only one? and would you have been satisfied with just him and not drafting 2-3 cornerbacks? I"ll definitely keep tabs to see if this guys turns out as great as you feel he is.Comment

more importantly, show me where anyone wanted to draft JUJU in the second round.
i wont hold my breath for either.steelers = 3 ring circus with tomlin being the head clownComment

I don't recall much discussion on Ju-Ju or where anyone wanted to draft him. They did draft him in the second round and I'm pleased with that and not that worried about what you think.Comment

So your definition of a chess piece is a slot WR? I'm glad that the Steelers recognize the need to have a physical blocking WR. I suggested this myself before the draft. But, it could have been had much later in Noah Brown. Brown is more physical and faster. He is a brutal teeth shattering blocker, a big dude who actually can get separation at the college level. It's less about JuJu and more about value. I see minimal difference in JuJu and Brown, they have the same game. Why not solidify your secondary and get your "chess piece" later? The chess piece analogy is easy...Smith-Schuster won't beat out AB and he probably won't beat out Bryant...
But, put him in the slot with AB and Bryant on the outside and Bell in the backfield...he can either run a route, mismatched on either a smaller DB or a slower LB, or he can block down on either of those players and give Bell some more room inside to run...Trolls are people too.Comment

exactly. he only became 'a great pick' after he was selected.
you must be worried because you are running your mouth saying things i never said.
im shocked that you are pleased

well that's good and all but isn't this a message board where we discuss? No need to get your panties in a bunch and feel threatened. The Steelers don't consult me before they pick. They should but they don't lol. You are right no one discussed JuJu before the draft. I did however discuss the need for drafting a physical WR and put a value name out there...a guy who will surprise people.Trolls are people too.Comment

yup, never mentions a single kid before the draft but becomes an expert on the ones the steelers drafted after the fact....
i like how he is going to follow the couple guys that others wanted/liked and see if they turn out to be studs, if not, he will say 'i told you so'.steelers = 3 ring circus with tomlin being the head clownComment

I don't feel threateaned. Now you are mischaracterizing and putting words in peoples mouths. I just jumped in to refute some of the doom and gloom being projected against the DBS.
I think they will be improved with the ones they have on the roster and who they have added through the draft and free agency.
No I don't think Noah Brown is the player Ju-Ju is but we'll see over time.Comment
