so the NFL is allowing TD celebrations again. I personally wish they had kept the rule in place because I hate ESPN and without absurd celebrations they can't fill 24 hours of airtime - but after reading his quote I can't help but laugh at the transparency of the head bungle in charge.....
"I'm not for that at all," Lewis told ESPN's Katherine Terrell on Tuesday (http://www.espn.com/blog/cincinnati-bengals/post/_/id/26900/marvin-lewis-on-new-celebration-rule-not-a-good-example-for-young-people). "We had a good standard, and the whole standard has always been, you want to teach people how to play the game the correct way and go about it the correct way, and that's not a very good example for young people."
Lewis, a member of the NFL Competition Committee, said individual celebrations don't really have a place in a team sport.
"The rules were changed for a reason, and I thought we had a good outcome," he said. "Again, this is a team game, and ... I don't understand why we want to give in to individual celebrations."
Perhaps years of watching Chad Ochocinco's on-field antics hardened Lewis to the idea of having to relive that era of NFL history.
so here's a coach and an organization that has zero discipline, no ability to look away from bad character because they are so desperate - and lewis is essentially saying "i know we're spineless and there's no chance I will ever be able to keep my dirtbag selfish players in line - and I really really really need the NFL to write rules to be enforced by the referees because lord knows, I sure won't hold my players accountable!!!"
