    (*) game coming up

    I haven't been following them much, but I'm pretty sure we can walk away with a convincing win:

    1) Our D is far better than their O - we will feast on Cassels.
    2) Ben has been born again ... seems like these last two games a light has gone on over his head (like those old cartoons) - "I can be a winning QB by taking what they give me, don't need to force 40 yard passes into double coverage".
    3) The * D is really old, and usually wind up sucking wind by the middle of the 3rd qrtr. We give them a steady dose of sweeps, roll-outs, slants ... throw in one rainbow pass each quarter ... by the 4th qrtr we'll be running FWP or Welde or Bowling Ball up the middle at 4 yards a pop every single gd*mn play, and their D will be just wishing the final whistle would just blow already!

    More lucid discussion of the upcoming game is welcome and encouraged!

    I am thinking of changing my moniker to "Kool-Aid Kid", but WTF, it's fun!

    I really hope Miami gives them all that they can handle tomorrow. I agree with what you say about their old D. I'm glad this game is later in the season so their vets will be more tired,

      I fully expect this to be a very tough game. NE has good solid vets who will not allow this team to totally collapse. I do think that the Steelers will win the game but I don't think we will roll over the *'s, it will come down to which team makes the plays in the 4th quarter.

          I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss Cassel, SASF, because in their last game, he threw for 400 yards and 3 TD's, plus ran for another 62 yards on 8 carries.

            I hear you loud and clear, R-Burgher, and it was against a Jet D that at least so far this week looks pretty stout against the Titties. But Yoda LeBeau has 10 days to work on this, I bet he's working overtime!

              And Cassel follows up that game with 415 yards and 3 TD throws, plus 2 rushes for 14 yards and a rushing TD. First New England QB to ever throw for 400 yards in back-to-back games...Brady has never done that. Let's hold him to less than half that next weekend.

                Anyone see Matt Light punching that Dolphins player (Crowder) while he was on the ground?

                Ref ended up ejecting both of them, but it should have been only Light who was tossed.

                  Yeah, saw that...it takes a real man to punch someone in the face repeatedly while you are wearing a helmet but the guy you are punching is helmetless. Crowder was laughing at him afterwards, though. Perhaps Light gets a game suspension next week for this???

                    It started with Crowder on the ground. As he was standing up his helmet came off. Light then grabbed him by the hair and was punching him.

                    I think he should get a one game suspension for sure.

                    Should I call Goodell? :P

                      Well one thing is for certain, the P*ts are going to throw the ball a lot against us, with the occasional draw thrown in. I imagine it's going to be mostly max-protect out of the shotgun with quick-hitting passes...look for Welker to be the target mostly.

                      The responsibility of this game will be on how the front 5 plays (D-Line plus the OLBs) - if they do well in flustering Cassell, it'll be a good day for us. But I'm not just saying it's on Harrison & Woodley, the D-Line must push the pocket to keep Cassell from running & picking up cheap yards. I'm hoping that Woodley & Harrison have BIG days, but I think it's going to have to be Woodley against their RT as we all know that Harrison is going to be chipped & held all day. The other key will be how they handle Welker & Faulk. If either of those end up being covered by LBs most of the time, it'll be a long day - unless that LB is Timmons. I would put Troy on Welker all day long & give Timmons the start to match up on Faulk & I think we win both of those match-ups.

                      Offensively, I believe that passes to Moore must be a big part of the plan as the P*ts don't have anyone who can cover him & it'll keep Ben upright. But I also believe that the long ball is also a key as their safeties aren't that good. I will say that we must, we must, we must run the ball effectively as we can expect to see the P*ts throw the kitchen sink at the O-Line.

                        We'll have to place in the the nickel more often than we play in our standard 3-4. I would imagine Keisel won't be able to go, but BMac may be ready to come back. In a 4-2-5 nickel, you could put Woodley-Smith-Hampton-Harrison up front, with Timmons and Farrior behind them. Then Ike-BMac-Gay as the corners and Troy-Clark at safety. Ike gets Moss with help from a safety over the top. BMac gets Welker underneath and Gay gets Gaffney. Timmons gets the TE Watson. God help Cassel if Light gets suspended and Harrison can just pin his ears back as a nickel pass rusher without very many coverage responsibilities.

                          I'll make it nice and simple. If we can get good pressure consistently, we'll be fine. If not, we're in for a tough time.

                            Hopefully, we bring more pressure on the QB than we did against the Colts. I look for alot of the same scheme, short, quick passes and draws and screens to neutralize the pass rush. This game has a sick feeling for me.

                              I hear all the talking heads jumping on the Cassell bandwagon, but look who this guy's played this season. This schedule is a crime for a team who played in the Super Bowl last year. Teams with winning records have been underlined, but note that the Jets and Dolphins have played equally weak schedules. 5 wins against teams with winning records are only 6-5 and barely treading water.
