Maniac, I appreciate your comments. But as I mentioned in my post Slappy and I go WAY back on this list. I consider him one of my favorite people here.Captain, I'm glad you said this. Before I joined this forum, I read a lot of post and there were a lot of varying opinions but what I don't appreciate is posters belittling other posters when you don't agree with their opinion on something. I think expressing different opinions should be encouraged. You can learn different things by getting different views.
There are posters who think they are " no it all's" and then there are some who just brown nose anything the front office does. Those two classes of posters seem to attack and meme others. They need to remember that everybody counts. Weather you like it or not.
I just want us all to debate various points but please don't belittle or insult your Steeler brother.
You use the expression "Steeler brother" and that s how I feel about him. Brothers can "fight" in a way that looks hateful and still love each other.
Because of this I can be a brutally honest at times with certain people in a way that can look mean.
Dizz, who came to my defense here have the same kinds of "debates" that look mean spirited (worse than this one) but are all in good fun. He is another one of my favorites here.
Nevertheless, I do see your point and even before reading the responses was in fact a little worried that it went a little too far.
I will ease up.
Nice to see Slappys comments indicating he didnt take it that way.

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

I agree. Let's take the BPA argument to the extreme and say the BPA is a CB 3 years in a row and a team has the chance to draft them. Will a team be any more competitive with the rest of the positions are average? There has to be a view toward team needs as well. The decision can't be made in isolation of the rest of the team. So it's the BPA at position of need unless there is a player that is clearly a can't miss game changer. Those are pretty rare.I agree - you have to consider the depth of the class and the composition of the roster. In 2011, the Steelers picked Cam Heyward as the 7th DE in the first round (8th if you count Aldon Smith as a DE). They could have instead taken the 4th WR - Titus Young. Or maybe they even get lucky and the 3rd WR - Jonathan Baldwin - might have fallen.
In a deep class, there is nothing wrong with spending an early pick on the 7th or 8th guy at a position. And this was a strong CB class and a weak WR class.
There is also another option - you can trade. In the 8 picks before the Steelers' selection, 2 safeties, a corner and 2 ILBs went off the board. Had they moved up a bit, they could have selected any one of those guys.Comment
