You need a cannon to throw that off balance and like Shawn has stated his arm is good but not great. That is coaching n reps and can be improved and will need to be improved because some of the accuracy or lack of accuracy is tied to lower body on Dobbs. He to me has good vision and in his read and desire to get the ball out quick he lacks some mechanics like getting his shoulders around to help him drive the ball better but that is coaching and correctable. He shows his ability to feel the rush while still looking down field and that is a necessary skill that to me is difficult to coach so you better have it and Dobbs does.
Improved footwork will lead to more accurate passes and that means more yack yards and that will be stressed by the coaching staff. Since I've never been a big Landry Jones fan I'm hoping Dobbs progresses and I'll keep a close eye on him at Latrobe.
I think this is a solid assessment. If you watch his head, which I do when I look at all QB film...you see that he doesn't break off his primary read. He automatically looks for the check down. That works in college but not in the pros. I know the coaches are already in rookie camp working on his footwork. I assume they will also help him better scan the field. I guess the question for me is...is he able to truly scan the field as the play is in motion? Is he able to find a secondary receiver through traffic? These are unanswered questions because he was able to get away with the way he played the game in college. I agree there are some interesting tools there. I think at this point it's impossible to predict his ceiling but of course I try. There are too many unanswered questions and I'm not sure we will know the answer to those questions for another 2-3 years.

That's why he was where he was in the draft. Of course he has things to work on. If he where a polished and finished product then he's a first round pick. But the intellect is there and the physical tools. Every qb in this draft has areas to work on. But Dobbs has at least an entire season to work on his issues with minimal pressure.

Yup, and this is why you draft a work in progress in the 4th round and not in the 1st. KC better hope Mahomes works out beause they spent a ton on him and I seriously doubt they recoup it.

I'm an unabashed Korkie fan. He was often horrible. But there were stretches where he was magic. I remember the game in Baltimore in 2000 where he threw for 300 yards, including a forever TD to Bobby Shaw from inside the EZ -- Bobby pulled up his jersey to show off his superman Tees after the TD, but Kordell was the actual superman that game.
If the Pats** hadn't cheated in the AFCC, we were probably getting the SB home that year (that was the year Hines was particularly pissed off about).

The man had a zone. He just didn't enter it frequently enough.

That was the year that after the game, he did an interview and said it seems like the Patriots knew all our plays before we ran them.

If I'm not mistaken, Kordell may be the only player in NFL history with a 90+ yard TD pass (vs the Ravens), an 80 yard TD run (vs the Colts), and a 70+ yard TD reception (vs the Bengals)...
Actually, my post was NOT about you...but, if the shoe fits, feel free to lace that &!+€# up and wear it.

i'm glad the kid is smart, good for him. hopefully that translates to the football field.
ryan fitzpatrick went to harvard. chad penninton was a rhodes scholar i believe. so smarts alone isnt going to get it done

talk to terry bradshaw about physics and he might sound like a retard. but talk to him about the x's and o's of football and he sounds like a genius. if he amounts to a competent starter in this league, its a great (4th rd) draft pick

Kordell was the best Steeler QB ever not to make it to the Big Dance.

Something about the AFCCG thew him into outer space.
There were times when you watched him play and you thought "This is the QB of the future" ... then there were games you thought "The Pocket Passer is the future"
                    Enter the Tommy Maddox era.

Dobbs will never have the feet Kordell and overall strength Kordell had.

“Annoyed” by hearing about Antonio Brown’s work ethic, Joshua Dobbs now witnesses it

Steelers quarterback Joshua Dobbs used to hear a lot about receiver Antonio Brown. Now Dobbs understands why.

Tennessee coach Butch Jones previously coached at Central Michigan, where Brown played college football. And Jones still points to Brown as an example of the kind of effort he’s looking for, to the point where some of his current players get sick of hearing about it.

“I heard a lot of talk about him from Coach Jones,” Dobbs said during a Sunday night visit to NewsChannel5 in Nashville, “and you almost got annoyed to the point of talking about his work ethic. But then when you get to camp and you see the attention that he puts into each and every rep, how hard he works, and then the amount of hours that he puts into his craft outside of the complex, you definitely see where the coaches were coming from and the point they were trying to make.”

And so the guy who made the most out of his free education in Tennessee (graduating with a degree in mechanical, aerospace, and biomedical engineering) is already getting the most out of his paid education in Pittsburgh, where he quickly learned one other important lesson during the Stanley Cup Final: He ditched the Nashville Predators sweater for a Pittsburgh Penguins sweater.

                        “I am guilty,” Dobbs said.

If he hopes to win hearts and minds in Pittsburgh, he’s not being guilty. He’s just being smart.

Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

AB is an addict. I mean that in the kindest way. I always tell my patients that their addiction issues are a super power being focused in the wrong direction. No doubt in my mind that AB has those tendencies but he harnessed it and directed it in a positive fashion. And ultimately became the best at his craft. Few have the mentality to truly put in the obsessive work it takes to be AB.

Good to see the good points of Brown being brought up. Wit the money Brown is making now, I expect better leadership from him. More maturity. Maybe I'm wrong for that but that's what I"m expecting.

I don't think it's wrong. I know there is a small crowd here that don't believe his antics are a big deal. In the grand scheme of things I would agree. With that said, I would love to see a culture shift in that locker room. I think that shift starts with AB. He has admitted that he has some growing up to do. And while TD dances, facebook streams, and IG model drama may not be huge in context to how much he brings to the table...it does matter. When a locker room isn't filled with me first players, and is team focused its a better team. I don't think anyone would deny that. So, I would like to see AB step up and work on his professionalism when it comes to off the field matters. I think that would be good for the young players.
