How Would You Grade The Steelers Draft at this Point?

I know it's unreasonable to grade a class until were at least several years into the player's development, but curious how you guys project this week's haul?

    I think I'd give us a B or a C.

I'd project TJ as a star in a couple years. I expect JuJu and Conner to be solid NFL players but nothing out of the ordinary. Our Long Snapper will stick. I'm mixed on where I think the rest will end up. I'm expecting 1 Pro Bowler out of this bunch. Hope I'm surprised in a couple years.

Sorry but I give it a solid A. I mean every player is the Beauty of the eye of the beholder who is selecting them. But in the end, all you can do is address needs on your team. We did that. One could say that a WR in round 2 was a stretch. But considering who was there, and Juju's pedigree and super Human strength and toughness, and not knowing if Coates can ever be that # 3 guy, then yeah Juju was a great pick. But every other pick was a need pick. So I give an A.

I've seen from B to B- overall...I can live with that...
Actually, my post was NOT about you...but, if the shoe fits, feel free to lace that &!+€# up and wear it.

I love the high ceiling aspect of many of these picks. A lot of quality football character drafted.

Some nice additions to the team with potential futures to be special. Watt, JuJu, Dobbs and Allen in particular.

At face value I give it a B+.

I'm a little disappointed. It's good that each of the guys seem to be good character types. I think TJ will be a beast after learning at the feet of the masters (Deebo and Peezy) as well as his own brother. He was by far the highlight of the Steelers draft to me. I like Connor as well and think he will be a really solid addition. I hated that they took a QB at all- especially one this bad, but he's smart and seems like a good athlete and person.

After all is said and done it seems we're still thin at ILB. I have no problem with VW. Shazier is a stud, but he seems to miss at least a few games each year. We probably need some Safety help as well. Was there no legit competition in those areas when we took what look like luxury picks (WR/QB)?

Yeah but remember..Rome was not built in a day. This was overall a weak ILB draft. Lets wait. You KNOW Some Vet LB will be Cap releases. Maybe a Vet would agree to come here and be a Back-up.

I'm tempted to rate the whole thing an F because they selected a long snapper.

I like a lot of the picks individually, but I'm just not feeling it with this draft. I like Watt and I like the pick of Sutton. I was ok with Smith Shuster after seeing some of his blocking prowess, but I didn't really love him as a prospect or the position. I like Conner - how can you not - but I thought the third might have been at least a round early.

Allen has great measurables, but is super raw. Is he even an upgrade over Shabazz? Given the Steelers poor history with late round corners, I'd love to be optimistic, but I'm having a tough time.

TJ is growing on me. Wasn't my favorite coming in but good value
JuJu addresses a need many of us refuse to admit is there. Coates and Bryant aren't world beaters and JuJu is an insurance policy
LOVE both 3rd round picks. Cam is going to be a good nickle corner and JC is going to be part of an incredible tandem.
Rounds 4-7 were extremely underwhelming. I like Allen, good size and raw. I think Dobbs was a 5th rounder. Long snapper was a 7th at best. I like how we finished up with the DE.

Solid B draft and that isn't bad given we drafted 30th.

Watt will be a very good player and potentially make a couple of Pro Bowls

JuJu will be a very good player at least as good as Manny Sanders has become.

Sutton will be eventually starter on the outside or in the slot

Conner will be a beast and when Bell gets hurt, when doesn't he, will be a solid fill in. Even when Bell is healthy Conner will be a beast on the goaline

Dobbs at worst will be a better back up than we have now and could be a better than average starter if he develops. Still not QB of the future

The rest of the guys...who knows? I think with luck Allen is the guy who could be the big surprise

But like I said, when draft at #30 you don't always get the very best but overall a good draft

Optimism is easy. You just have to try and it doesn't hurt. You just have to be willing because it does nothing being negative. You change nothing

I do not agree with with our picks, I dont like it all! first three picks in Watt, Ju JU and sutton solid not great, and the rest is horrible. I would of prefered tradeing up in second for Cunningham, Awuzie, and a TE. the long snapper pick a waste! The qb pick a waste! I hope I am wrong, but come on. I would of went with

                        1) Watt
                        2) trade up using 5 and 6 and 3rd to pick up Awuzie, Obi, J. Jones, or Cunningham
                        3) Sutton or a TE
                        4)RB

Which explain your job at Dominos...and NOT a NFL GM ( Thank God ) I mean if you can't see the great Value of Juju at 62, and especially Dobbs in Late 4th round then you are completely lost my man.

I see the value in JuJu. He has qualities that you want in your WR corps. Dobbs? Not so much. Awful pick, IMO. Of course, maybe that's why I'm pulling a paycheck from Pizza Hut.

Vols’ Dobbs, Sutton shine at Reese’s Senior Bowl

MOBILE, AL- Tennessee’s Joshua Dobbs and Cameron Sutton showcased their talents for NFL scouts and coaches on Saturday at the 68th Annual Reese’s Senior Bowl at Ladd-Peebles Stadium.

Both Dobbs and Sutton started for the South team, which took a 16-15 win over the North team.

Dobbs played in the South’s first three possessions and finished 12-for-15 for 104 yards and had one interception.

Dobbs completed two of three passes for 13 yards during the South’s opening drive. His first pass was a four-yard completion to Alabama tight end O.J. Howard over the middle. Under center three plays later, Dobbs completed his second pass to San Diego State’s Donnel Pomphrey off of play action to his right for an 11-yard gain. Ole Miss tight end Evan Engram dropped Dobbs’ third pass down the left seam.

On the second play of the South’s second possession, Dobbs completed a 10-pass to Grambling State’s Chad Williams and showcased his mobility on his fifth throw, rolling to his right to evade pressure and get rid the ball. Dobbs was hit as he threw on his sixth passing attempt as his left tackle was pushed into him on the release, affecting the pass down the middle and resulting in an interception for Lorenzo Jerome of St. Francis (Pa.).

The South ran the two-minute drill for its third possession at the end of the first quarter. Dobbs looked good in the hurry-up offense, starting with a five-yard pass to Howard. He followed that with a five-yard pass to Texas A&M’s Josh Reynolds down the right sideline. Three plays later, he completed a six-yard sideline pass to Pumphrey. Dobbs hit Howard for six-yard gain and a first down and then beat the expiring first-quarter clock to rifle a pass to Howard down the right seam for a 24-yard gain.

Dobbs remained hot at the start of the second quarter. On first down from the South’s 25-yard line, he connected with BYU’s Jamaal Williams for a four-yard completion out of the backfield. On 3rd-and-3 two plays later, he displayed his quick release, hitting Western Kentucky’s Taywan Taylor on a 14-yard quick slant. Dobbs completed a seven-yard pass to Reynolds and picked up another first down when his screen pass to Florida State fullback Freddie Stevenson resulted in a 10-yard gain. The South turned the ball over on a fumble by Reynolds during a reverse.

Cleveland Browns and South head coach Hue Jackson was pleased with Dobbs’ performance.

“I thought Josh did a good job,” Jackson said. “He couldn’t control getting hit and flipping the ball up in the air, but I thought he ran the offense, moved the ball and did the things we thought he could do. He did a good job.”

NFL Network analyst and draft expert Mike Mayock shared that opinion at halftime.

“I thought Joshua Dobbs did a nice job with his set,” Mayock said.

NFL Network analyst Daniel Jeremiah said that scouts had great things to say about Dobbs and California’s Davis Webb.

“When you talk to scouts who have gone on those two school calls, they say these are the types of kids that coaches are going to want to work with,” Jeremiah said. “Their work ethic is outstanding.”

Sutton started the game at cornerback for the South and also played on special teams. He posted three tackles in the game and none of the receivers he covered were targeted by North quarterbacks.

Playing at the nickel, he halted the North’s opening possession when he made a tackle on Michigan’s De’Veon Smith after a seven-yard completion on 3rd-and-11.

During the North’s second possession, Sutton made a big tackle on 2nd-and-Goal, stopping Smith at the four-yard line.

On the broadcast, Mayock said that he was impressed with what he saw out of Sutton over the course of the Senior Bowl Week.

“He tackled everybody and gave great effort,” Mayock said of Sutton showing in practices.

Sutton played at right corner, nickel and free safety in the second half and did not have a pass thrown his way. He made his third stop of the day when he tripped Toledo running back Kareem Hunt in the third quarter on a 20-yard run down the left seam.
