If coates is healthy, I'm okay with him as a number 2.

Coats had a 19% drop rate before he got injured, so you shouldn't be.

If you're good with us burning our #2 on a guy who's likely completing for the #3 through 5 slots... that's fine. It'll look like a genius pick if MB fails a drug test and Justin Hunter and/or Coats get hurt

If a person goes to jail 5 times for the same crime , do you trust him in society ? Coats and Hunter are number 4s at best..

Also looking at it this way, in taking a guess here. If 5 WR came off the board and 13 DBs came off the board before the Steelers picked, which position do you have a better chance on hitting a homerun on? Are we drafting for need or BPA?

I see your point...but, using that logic, we probably should have drafted a QB there... because the #5 or 6 was still on the board when we picked.

The other 3 picks were absolutely based on need.

It's my understand that this WR class is relatively weak... with the DB class being incredibly deep. In most years I would agree with your 5/13 comparison. I would have been fine with drafting one of the ILB's that went off the board shortly after we picked. We are very weak depth wise at ILB.

Ok Let me rephrase, BPA at a need. QB, K, P, DL , OL and I would say Safety is not a immediate need any other positions are, so what do you do? Draft for the fans or draft for BPA of position of need.

Let just say this although I don't put much stock in Kiper , but the WR that we took was the 2nd best available at the time that we picked him.

WR "Position of need" is debatable...and based on a bunch of "What if's" that will play out over the course of training camp...and the season. ILB BPA position of need is not debatable.

I hope the kid has a 1000 yard season this year. If he sends a message to the other WR... and causes them to somehow "Raise their games" so to speak.. it will certainly be a worthwhile pick.

Just a fan discussion is all that we are having and I enjoy that we respect each other opinions without calling out or disrespect. A big kudos to you first off. But if you are a DC in a playoff game last year, what other wr not name Brown that you are double covering?

The more I think about this Sutton pick, the more I like it. He's got position flexibility, capable of playing slot CB or FS. If Golson doesn't pan out, Sutton can take the slot CB role over from Gay ... if Golson turns out to be the real deal, then Sutton can move to FS.

I know referencing Senquez Golson's name is ridiculed, but if he can get on the field, along with Sutton, Burn, and Cockrell, I think we can do some things in man coverage this year.
I wasn't hired for my disposition.
