    Tomlin explains TJ Watt's role

In the press conference, Tomlin went on record as saying he is looking at TJ Watt's impressive versatility as an OLB, rushing the passer, dropping into coverage and working out of a rover front floating over the ball. No mention of moving him to ILB. What I will say is this...when JJ Watt played for Wisconsin I was so annoyed by his presence. I remember saying to myself man would that guy look great in the BnG. I was equally annoyed by TJ. He was all over the field, constantly making plays, pumping up his team, a clear leader. Some worry about his 40. He runs a 4.69, 37 inch vertical. The guy is explosive and has serious motor. My intial review of him stated my one concern was lacking elite twitch. I stand by that. But, make no mistake he isn't slow, and he is twitchy enough to be very good. He is a smart, motivated, motor guy who has enough athletic skill and competitive drive to be an All Pro in this league. I'm stoked about the pick.

I preferred others esarly in the process but TJ really grew on me. As far as measureables I thought I read or heard his agility was on par with many of the DBs. Maybe some one else who is more expert on this can confirm or deny.

I think he will be a great addition to learn from JH.

I agree. Before the combine, I had a late second round grade on him. My main concerns were lack of experience at LB, he was a TE, his knee surgeries, and I wondered if he would run well at the combine. After the combine, I realized this guy has all the measurables and that some of the "twitch" concerns could be due to newness at the position. He does need to develop more pass rush moves...but he is new. He is a smart, coachable, high character guy who is going to be very special for us.

TJ WATT is one of those guys who could be GREAT ... but if he's not "Great" he's at least going to be Good!!

When they drafted Jarvis Jones I thought to myself. "This guy is going to suck!!"

TJ Watt has me thinking "I can't wait to see this guy develop"

My concerns with TJ is his multiple knee injuries early in his career at Wis. Love his motor, his combine numbers were impressive, and I love his work ethic. He learned how to work from JJ, now he has Deebo to complete his training

Apparently his knee injuries were all when he was blocking playing TE on the offense. That is why Chryst moved him to defense. No problems since then
