    Trading Out of 1st Round

The more I look at who we should pick in round 1, the more I'm left scratching my head on which player is really the best of the bunch that i think will be there. It feels like there's 10-15 guys that I like that I think could be in that spot.

Considering this draft is so deep at our positions of need, would we be better off trading back out of the 1st round and collecting more picks in rounds 2-4? And extra couple picks could be huge with all the talent that seems to be on the board. What if we could get an extra 2 and 3 or 2 and 4?

I'm not convinced the guy that goes at #30 will really be that much better than the guys available in the 2nd round.

Maybe I'm missing something, but I don't see it. But that said, could we really get any value for pick 30? Is someone willing to give up much to get in our spot? There has to be someone worth trading up to get.

With such a deep class, I really believe pick 30 isn't especially valuable this year.

Personally I love the idea of trading the #30 to get rid of that potential stigma known as a "1st round pick" when you're 3 picks from being "Day 2 pick"

Unless my guy was there I'd have no problem dropping out and picking up another pick or 2 if I had my eye on someone I knew would be available.

To make my point more clear, you might get a late round pick by trading back (5 or 6 round) and those are hit or miss.Me,if there is someone I like at 30 I take him there..

Yeah it's a deep draft, but the picks value has a lot to do with what players are there and how teams value those players. A lot of mocks have the Saints taking a QB with R1 pick 32. If a team like the 49ers, Bears, Jets, or someone else do not take QB in round 1, perhaps they'll be looking to get ahead of New Orleans? I like having NO where they are; teams are always starving for a QB and willing to move to get them. If we were to find a trade like that, we'd only be moving back a handful of spots and getting additional picks in return. I like it.

As always with trading up or down you have to have a partner. Is there a team out there that believes there is a player that could make the difference for them to move up into the 1st round? What about the Steelers moving up the board in the 1st round? Any player worth giving up picks or a player to grab earlier in the round?

I'd only be willing to trade up if Malik Hooker fell lower than expected because he hasn't been able to work out for scouts at the Combine or Pro Day following offseason surgery.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

I'd be hesitant to trade out of the first because you lose a year of control and lose the 5th year option. Based on the draft value chart (not sure if that is accurate or not), you could conceivably get an early 4th for moving back 5-6 spots, which would then able you to either move up in the second, move up in the third, or have 3 picks in a span of 10 or so in the 3rd/4th. But that requires a lot of work.

If you have 5-6 guys rated evenly, I'd do it. But if there is somebody you like, take him.

I'd take everyone one of those scenario's. After watching Colbert and Tomlins presser today I get the feeling we may trade back.

for some reason trading back is always the sexy pick on boards and sports radio. Panthers are at #8 and someone calls in to say they should trade back because there isn't any real good picks at 8.

                        WTF?

                        I just don't see it.

Only way I see us trading back is if some of the QBs are still on the board and someone wants one of them. I don't expect that to happen. IMO the top 3 QBs will be gone before pick #20
