The "family" aspect isn't very impressive to me. No one is good at football development by genetics or osmosis. So when people bring that stuff up, it goes out the window with me.It's your own personal insight , development, dedication and application that makes an individual good at what they do.

ESPN's Ron Jaworski: Dont draft a QB in the 1st RD

ESPN's Ron Jaworski has a stern message for any NFL team thinking about drafting a quarterback in this year's draft.

            Don't do it.

Jaworski, the former Eagles quarterback and current NFL analyst, does not think any of the quarterback's in the 2017 NFL Draft class are worth a first round pick, something he made clear on Tuesday morning.

"I would be shocked ... I wouldn't take one of these guys in the first round if I was a general manager," Jaworski said. "None of these players right now look to be the guy that could solve my problem.

"There's no Jameis Winston. There's no Marcus Mariota. There's no Carson Wentz. And (the current quarterback prospects) are gonna get pushed up."

According to CBS Sports, there are only two surefire first round picks at quarterback with less than three weeks remaining until the draft. Those two quarterbacks are Mitch Trubisky and Deshaun Watson, while Patrick Mahomes is currently slated as a late first/second round pick.

In his most recent mock draft, ESPN draft guru Mel Kiper has all three quarterbacks going in the first half of the first round. Kiper has the Jets selecting Trubisky with the sixth pick in the draft, the Browns taking Watson with the 12th overall pick and Mahomes going to the Cardinals with the 13th pick.

Kiper seems especially intrigued with Mahomes, who threw for over 5,000 yards with 41 touchdowns against 10 interceptions last season.

"You think about the arm talent, it’s rare to see a kid that can spin it and the explosiveness in those throws," Kiper said of Mahomes, per lubbockonline.com. "They just jump out of his hand. He makes up so much ground because he looks like he’s throwing to a crowded area, and the ball, that 98 mile-an-hour fastball, gets there in a blink.

“And he sees. He has great vision down the field for that third, fourth and fifth option. His eyes, he sees things. Bobby Knight used to talk about seeing things, seeing the court. He sees the field, and he’s mobile. That’s why he’s moved up.”

Of course, Jaworski once said that Colin Kaepernick could be one of the greatest quarterbacks ever, so that goes to show you that just because you can play QB doesn't mean that you can analyze QB prospects. However, none of these QB prospects jump off the page to me either. Last year, I really liked Carson Wentz, but this year, there is no one approaching that level that I have seen.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

Noooooo....we need all the Qb's we can get going in the first round. That helps us!! 4 Qb's and 4 rb's.

big difference in playing vs coaching... jaws played. i don't know that he's coached. certainly hasn't had to do the analysis on who he'd draft...

ehh, we beat the crap out of them in their stadium and Bettis punked Sapp.

Not taking anything away fro them, it was a good team but it damn sure wasn't because of their offense.

genetics and osmosis? no. but, being around football people from day 1 and getting insight that the average Joe didn't get is huge. and many times, the backup QBs are the best coaches - because they've helped the QB in real-life game situations. Ben always refers to how much Charlie Batch helped him.

I a different scenario - surely you acknowledge that Peyton Manning's football IQ was increased by growing up in Archie's house, right?

Yes, you have to apply what you've learned. but, the exposure is invaluable.

"could be" is much different than "WOULD be"

IMO if Harbough didn't leave I think Kaep has a different career. They were a damn good team but the SF front office is a mess.

Can't get them right all the time especially gauging a man's heart. Cutler could have been great when looking at his physical attributes.

I have respect for Mayock - however, I personally ding him a little for Cutler because he totally ignored mental makeup; which you cannot do with a QB. That's very important at that position. Just points out that we all have our favorites and sometimes think irrationally about them.
