    5 guys I want 5 guys I dont

These are all realistic possibilities for the Steeler's. These are purely guys I want on our team and guys I don't. Some will be 1st rounders and some 2nd. Some would make me happy despite reaching outside our biggest needs and some would leave me feeling frustrated. Knowing Kevin Colbert though I feel we will be in good hands.

1-(I want)-Pat Mahommes-QB-Texas Tech- No surprise as I've been on this guy since I watched him put up 600 yards of offense against Oklahoma in November. Every tool I wan't in a QB except footwork. Reminds me of BB so much it's scary, only Mahoomes is a MUCH better athlete.

1-(I don't)-Jabril Peppers-S-Michigan- while I love the kids athleticism and character he will be at least 2 years till he is capable of being a legitimate NFL starting safety. Like I said before, Harbaugh did this kid zero favors by never giving him a position.

2-(I want)-Takkarist McKinley-OLB-UCLA-everything about this kid screams success, I have visions of him and Bud Dupree terrorizing QB's for the next decade. I am hoping the shoulder is enough to get him to fall

2-(I don't)-Charles Harris-edge-Mizzou-call me crazy but i don't see a first round player here, I see a guy that consistently plays off balance and relies on athleticism over smarts. I'll pass

3-(I want)-David Njoku-TE-Miami-first let me say that I am totally against using a high pick on a TE. However I believe Njoku is a superstar level talent who could almost immediately be our 3rd best option on offense (even with Bryant back). This kid is a beast and will prove himself as the best TE in this draft when the dust settles.

3-( I don't)-Tim Williams-OLB-Alabama-the NFL is littered with busted Crimson Tide draft picks, no need to take a chance on one with this much baggage

4-(I want)-Chidobie Awuzie-CB-Colorado- here I see a guy who would immediately contest to be our #1 CB, awesome character guy and off the charts football IQ, sign me up

4-(I don't)-Obi Melinfonwu-DB-UConn- I know this will not be popular with many of you, but I cannot be convinced that a guy who disappears on tape as often as Melinfonwu and has average production as a college starter will be a difference maker at the next level

5-(I wan't)-Jarrad Davis-ILB-Florida-production, production, production!! Combined with an off the charts motor and great athleticism.....he would make us forget all about Lawrence Timmons

5-(I don't)-TJ Watt-OLB-Wisc-again I know this won't be popular, but I can't put this much stock into a guy with such limited play. I love what I see I just don't see enough of it, if we can get him in the second round by all means!!

I can agree with about 95% of this. I think Watts is worth our 30th pick, but is more of a 2nd round talent. We are just to low in the second for his real value.

Patrick Mahomes is at the top of my list of players I don't want. Big 12 QB's with crazy college stats always seem to stink it up in the NFL. Case in point: Landry Jones.

TJ Watt will be a beast. U said u haven't seen enough, well I've seen enough to know. I've been running up to the podium since day 1 with this guy. It wasn't the popular opinion 3-4 months ago, but everyone has finally paid attention to more then just his name. Everyone thought he was getting recognition because of his name. It's because of his play. I seriously doubt he lasts to pick 30 anyway.

I can agree with rest of it.

I like your list. Now, a good way to sift through is to see who we've brought in for official visits. That's usually a good indicator of who we can expect. As for Mahommes, I'm with Man of Steel, I think. Mahommes is truly a gamble on greatness, one I'm not willing to take. I don't know much about him, and I think he's so talented that he basically can't not be an NFL player... HOWEVER, I feel like he'll be one of those guys who plays well enough in the regular season and leaves his team always losing in the playoffs (e.g. Jeff George, Jay Cutler, even Cam). I think it is a case where guys with uber talent, not having the fortitude of a guy who has to scratch and claw his way to get there. Just my hunch, could be totally wrong. (And I could change my mind between now and then.)
I wasn't hired for my disposition.

I actually agree with all of this. The problem? I'm not sure the Steelers will see it the same way. I'm not a fan of Obi or Peppers, but I do see a trend in Steeler drafting. When the Steelers drafted the raw but uber athletic Ryan Shazier over the lunch pail ready to play CJ Mosley the writing was on the wall. A guy like Peppers has a Shazier type athleticism, and while more of a project than Shazier has some extra talents in the form of being a instant upgrade in the return game. I agree he is a two year project but I see him on the field much sooner than that. I see him in the slot very early. Personally, I think Obi is a 3rd round talent with top 10 size/speed combination. Again, the Steelers believe they can groom these types of players. Bud Dupree was very soft on his college film. The Steelers chose him because again, size speed combo.

I've never been a fan of that mentality. I like football players. But, the Steelers have has some really good success drafting these athletic freaks with some questions. So, as long as they keep developing these guys and having success I can't really argue.

As for Takk, I like him alot. I like Watt alot, but not first round alot. I REALLY like Carl Lawson but think the medical is too much. You know I think Pat Mahommes is going to be a great NFL QB. At the end of the day Takk will be gone by our pick. Awuzie has a decent chance of being there.
            Trolls are people too.

I like this post. My five I like would be: Davis, McKinley, Watt, Cunningham, Awuzie.

Don't like: Mahomes, Williams, Njoku, Ross, Charlton.

I will say this, too: though Mahomes has the arm-talent and great athletic ability, I've seen him in 3 different interviews so far and I absolutely hate him (haters will be haters, haha). Most cocky, arrogant punk since Johnny Football. It will be his undoing. Hate to see him in B&G.

with you there. I'd add TJ to "Want" and Mahommes to "don't want". Good with the rest.

                        "Disappears on tape?"
One he is a secondary player. What I DONT want is a guy who QBs constantly attack who shows up on tape all the time getting toasted.

                        Productivity?
Dude has four picks and 118 tackles. I know safeties on bad defenses can have a lot of "clean-up" tackles when a runner gets loose so the number dnt tell the whole story but he made those plays. He was all conference, so those who played him did not consider his production average. He had one of the better SR bowl performances. The narrative that he is just a workout warrior seems misplaced here. So I do not get the skepticism here.

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

Dude has four picks (more than higher ranked Peppers and Jamal Adams combined) and 118 tackles tops among high ranked prospects. I know safeties on bad defenses can have a lot of "clean-up" tackles when a runner gets loose so the number dnt tell the whole story but he made those plays. 8 picks in 48 career starts. 118 tackles on a team that went 3-9 with a defense that ranked 245th in the country in yards against. You hit the nail right on the head. He racked up the tackles because the front 7 was a sieve. Listen I am not saying he isn't a nice player but he is not a top 50 guy.

Obi doesn't look dynamic on tape. He doesn't play as fast as his 40 time. He didn't pass the eye test for me. Wth that said, that 40 coupled with that size will get him a look from the Steelers.

                              >Your comment got me thinking of Davis pick last year. I think we all were critical or puzzled by selecting him there, when there were other "top" safeties. He might be a player, but why is everyone on his bandwagon. He is not going to start at safety this year. Is everryone trying to make him into a "pepper role" (LB/S) I understand that he could eventually start in the future and play a role this year. But if we are looking to strengthen our backfield, woudn't Awuzie be a better upgrade? We could even probably trade back a bit and still get him.
