No need for anyone to "lose their mind", but in the case of Kaepernick's protest, no surprise that many people might decide to quit watching the product (also a peaceful protest). Because to many people, what he did amounts to (figuratively) pi$$ing on all the citizens of the U.S. collectively, and the people who've served in the armed forces specifically. Again, he has the right to do what he did, and I will profusely defend that right ... but as Sword pointed out, that doesn't mean what he did was right ... and I will profusely defend the right of others to point that out! Which is probably NOT very PC, but I don't really care.

But you also can't force the fans to have to support the protesters, and you can't stop them from showing their displeasure by not watching. While people have the right to protest, they cannot expect to do so without some resulting consequences.
who said fans need to be forced to support Kap?

People asked for a better way for Kap to have a peaceful protest. That was the most peaceful protest I have ever seen.

You have people mad at Kap for kneeling then they applaud the people at the Bundy ranch for pointing guns at Federal agents.

Up is down... it just depends on who is protesting IMO.

Who is losing their mind? He's protesting. Many people disagree with his protest. Seems pretty straightforward.

the guy had a platform with which he could reach millions around the U.S. at once. He took advantage of that. Personally think it's pretty smart. If i had something i believed strongly in AND could reach millions at one fell swoop, I'd do it, too.

Yup. and whether you agree with what they're protesting for. Lord help people in the U.S. who disagree these days.

Even if they don't agree with Kap's viewpoint, anyone who watches NFL football IS supporting him, in a sense, since ratings = dollars for the league, and dollars for the league is where Kap's salary comes from. And that's why some people who didn't agree with Kap decided to stop (or curtail) their viewing -- it was their way of peacefully protesting against his peaceful protest.

Well, I'm not applauding the behavior of the people on the Bundy ranch. And I agree that Kap's protest was peaceful (and I'm not "mad" at him for kneeling). He had every right to do it. But again, to a lot of folks, it meant he was giving them a big middle finger for being American, or for having served in the American military. I'm of the opinion that it was the wrong way for him to make his point. Many other people agree, and some of them feel quite passionate about it. But as far as I know, not one of them has set his house on fire, or vandalized his car, or thrown rocks at him over his protest. All peaceful protests and peaceful disagreements, as far as I can tell.

Well said. Guys like Kapernick are "punks" who have been pampered all their lives because they can play a game and had the benefits of living here yet they want to find something to draw attention to themselves. he could have just as easily stayed in the locker room until after the national anthem but he wanted to make it about him. Well now it is about him and about him not having a job...hopefully for a very long time but that won't happen because some team will get desperate.

Standing doesn't mean you agree with everything in the country because it isn't perfect. It means you respect what it stands for and what it has given you and you honor those who have sacrificed more than you ever will to give you the ability to be a punk.

I think this is how the majority of people would look at it (except I would substitute the word "liberty" for the phrase "the ability to be a punk").

Hmmm..."Give Me the Ability to be a Punk or Give Me Death" has a nice ring to it...

"Statue of the Ability to be a Punk"...not so much.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

It all depends upon who is perceived as disrespectful...our PRESIDENT publicly disrespected the family of a soldier who sacrificed his life in service to our country...which, IMO, is just as bad or worse than not standing for the National Anthem...the same people who bash Kaepernick support the president...

Again, I just don't get it...
