The Pittsburgh Steelers are scheduled to host Jackson State linebacker Javancy Jones on an official pre-draft visit, reports Ray Fittipaldo for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Coming from an FCS school, Jones may lack the name recognition of many of the high-profile athletes in the 2017 NFL Draft. Nonetheless, the Steelers are taking a closer look at the intriguing prospect.

Listed at 6-foot-2, 245 pounds, Jackson spent time as both an edge rusher and linebacker in college. In four seasons with the Tigers, he racked up 332 tackles, 77.5 tackles for loss – including an FCS-best 26 as a junior in 2015 – and 17 sacks, according to CBSSports.com.

Jones finished his senior season 82 tackles, 19.5 tackles for loss and 4 sacks, but missed part of the campaign to care for his mother. He is currently projected as a mid- to late-round pick.

While not the type of big name that typically excites fans, Jones is a potential diamond in the rough who dominated the competition in college.

Are you sure? Just because he is projected to go late doesn't mean a team won't like him enough to jump in early to grab him.

Unlike Jarvis Jones, this guy has intriguing athleticism. Unfortunately, much like Jarvis Jones, I have not seen any sacks where he beat an offensive tackle.

Given the speed and athleticism, I think this could be a nice complimentary piece as ILB depth for Vince Williams, while also being a player that you could move around a bit.
