    Tyson Alualu to Visit

Per Jeremy Fowler. Former #10 overall pick who has obviously never lived up to his draft status. Although drafted as a DT, it looks like the Jags played him at DE, which seems like a poor fit.

I haven't watched him play much, and I don't have strong feelings on him as a backup DE/DT one way or another.

IMO would be a good depth signing.

He's not the penetrating 3-technique DT the Jags were looking for when they drafted him (averaging about 2 sacks per season). But he seems to have the body type that we look for in a 5-technique DE. He should be strong enough against the run to be an improvement on Ricardo Matthews as a rotational depth d-lineman if we sign him.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

I agree with this. Definitely improve our rotation at the bottom end.

Interesting.. McCullers might be down to his last opportunity.

I don't think this has anything to do with McCullers...Alualu has a similar body type to Mathews...I think it's a chance to upgrade depth...
Actually, my post was NOT about you...but, if the shoe fits, feel free to lace that &!+€# up and wear it.

It think Alualu, if signed, would fill a veteran backup role behind Heyward and Tuitt (recently held by the likes of Ricardo Matthews and Cam Thomas), complementing the young L.T. Walton, and would not impact NT McCullers either way.

Yeah, you nailed it. He's a guy they'd look at for the Cam Thomas / Ricardo Matthews role. I haven't seen him enough to say whether he's an upgrade over Matthews.

"Poor Man's" has a connotation of being a lesser version of a player. Alualu and Hood are essentially the same size, same age (1 year apart), similar tackle production, similar sack production. They are comparable players...Neither one is the poor man's version of the other. Neither player lived up to first round pick status, but both are serviceable NFL defensive linemen in a rotation.
