    he's not coming here.
if he wants to win, he goes back to the pats.
if he wants to get paid, he goes anywhere other than pittsburgh
steelers = 3 ring circus with tomlin being the head clown

He's getting a chance to see if Hightower is flexible or rigid on his asking price.

KCs job is contact players and see if they are interested in visiting.

Stop complaining about every move we make.

Who's complaining??? I'm getting an understanding of what his plan is. And by what you said, he could have done that by calling he agent.

And we haven't made any moves. So what are you talking about? LOL

            That's funny but true.

I was being sarcastic too. But it seems some of these posters are a little up tight. LOL.

I so remember that draft a few years ago. I think everybody knew we were going to draft this kid, until DeCastro happened to slip to us and Hightower slipped to the pats who I believed picked right after us. DeCastro is nice and everything. But in hindsight, I kind of wished we would have stayed the course.

Then, we probably would not have drafted Shazier...

Personally, I would like to have Shazier, Hightower AND DeCastro as long-term Steelers...
Actually, my post was NOT about you...but, if the shoe fits, feel free to lace that &!+€# up and wear it.

I've heard that Hightower wants about $10 million per year. He's a good run stuffer, good inside blitzer, but a bit of a liability in coverage.
Heard the same thing..Basically a 2 down player but perhaps can play OLB as an edge rusher..

Same as with Dre Kirkpatrick. Perhaps he feels slighted by the initial contract terms the team who drafted him was offering. If so, maybe we get to steal a guy away from a rival team. If not, then our show of interest might ultimately drive up the price that one of our rival teams must fork over to keep the guy. That happened already with Kirkpatrick, and may happen again with Hightower. We'll see. Even if Colbert's interest only ultimately serves to increase the cap hit that Cincy and NE must pay to keep these guys, then it's still worth the effort. It's not like we are limited in terms of free agent visits we can have like we are limited in the number of draft prospect visits we can have.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

                        This.

I wonder why Brown hasn't been getting more attention?

I'm sorry for not being excited by a big version of Vince Williams at 4 times the price, when the truth is L Timmons is a better player that's underrated and we let him walk out the door.

Of course, Timmons is entering his 11th season, heading into the back nine of a quality NFL career, while Hightower is entering his 6th season, which tends to be the prime years on an NFL career.

That said, it doesn't necessarily mean that I want to pay Hightower the $10M or so he is looking for any more than I wanted to pay Timmons the $6M he was looking for.

There may be a better deal out there for a young ILB with some upside at a more reasonable cap number, such as Zach Brown, Gerald Hodges, or Kevin Minter, for instance.

The Hightower visit reminds me of what the Steelers did a few years back when they brought in (or talked about bringing in) high-priced (at the time) FAs like Elvis Dumervil, Dwight Freeney and Darelle Revis ... maybe even last year with Weddle. I don't think they're serious about signing Hightower; IMO, it's more about the FO trying to show the fans that they're trying to do something ... or else maybe they're trying to help drive up the price that NE will have to pay to re-sign him (which would be a good thing).

That's exactly what happened. I wanted Hightower real bad that year.
