If you don't see Ben's replacement then you keep Landry, no need to bring anyone in who has to learn from scratch. The Steelers are in ""win now" mode as long as Ben is on the field, so unless they found "that guy", they aren't taking a QB early. Signing Landry Jones means they just want someone who knows the offense, so they don't have to spend any time grooming and can just focus on winning.

Eli Rodgers is easily an upgrade over Wheaton, especially in the slot position. As far as filling in for Bryant, while neither Coates or Heyward-Bey are as talented I do think Coates can be effective if he really works on his game this off season, the guy is a tough cover, he just has to get better at catching the ball. Heyward-Bey is not as physical as Bryant or Coates and he's not a great red zone guy, which is why he is not a full time guy.

Ben has too much money left on his deal and too much money he would have to pay back if he walked away, he is definitely finishing that contract.

I agree. But we have to hope he isn't going to just go through the motions to finish. Personally, I think he is too much of a competitor to do that. But he also may be less likely to play banged up like he has in the past.

Its a sign that you're nearing the end of the line. We've actually been pretty lucky with him, that we haven't had more injuries recently. Look at him... if he's not rotund, he certainly looks out-of-shape. He certainly looks like a 47-year old dad, more than a world-class athlete and QB. (Don't get me wrong though: I don't expect a ripped QB. Just someone like Brady* or Manning or basically anyone... Ben is the only QB I know who appears to have a substantial gut. Or maybe that's padding?)
I wasn't hired for my disposition.
