Wheaton now gets to experience the joy of catching passes from a $14.5M/year backup-quality starting QB in games rather than the horror of catching passes from a $2.2M/year backup-quality backup QB in practices.Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.
Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.
We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.
We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.Comment

I actually wished that Wheaton would of signed on with us, he was a decent #2/#3 WR when healthy. I think Roger is comparable to him, except I think Wheaton could play on the outside.

I also wanted the Steelers to re-sign Wheaton. I don't think it's the biggest loss to worry about, but it would have taken some pressure off -- now I think they are almost certainly going to have to address WR in the draft.Comment

I'm happy Wheaton's gone. He was taking up a roster spot from someone who maybe can really help us.Comment
