I just don't think you have to draft a running back high, especially if we sign Bell to a long term deal.
You guys still want McCaffrey in the first 2 rounds?

That's right. If they're high when you draft 'em, not a good sign
... and since the Steelers have Bell, they already have enough of that with the RBs on the team ...

because at his high usage, he's shown he can get dinged and miss games here and there... and since deangelo is long in the tooth, it's time to find a good backup. IMO, that's a 3rd/4 rounder, though. a 1st rounder is just silly. I'd rather take a swing at the next David Johnson...2013 MNF Executive Champion!Comment

i'd take mixon without hesitation... would consider him in the second - he's that talented. and as i said in another thread, i have zero concerns about the incident. she put her hands on him twice. he retaliated. people (regardless of sex) should expect retaliation if you put your hands on another person. No Mixon today because of incident. That was 3 years ago and kid deserves chance to put that in rear view mirror so I would want to check out his pro day. No issues since and he has game. Mixon I would believe would not last to our 4th not sure he makes it to us in the 3rd but if he has his act together he would be good value in the 3rd n fill a need.
personally think SHE should have been the one up on assault charges... kind of a b.s. charge, IMO.
now, if he had a history of such incidents (which i'm unaware of) that's a completely different thing.2013 MNF Executive Champion!Comment

thats sorta my point, if bell is often injured, suspended and run into the ground, why want to pay him the huge contract? i think karlos can spell bell for a few games. i feel the need for a olb, cb, safety, olb, ilb are more of a need than rb.because at his high usage, he's shown he can get dinged and miss games here and there... and since deangelo is long in the tooth, it's time to find a good backup. i dont want to see rb until round 6 at the earliest, maybe not all all. sign a couple UDFA rbssteelers = 3 ring circus with tomlin being the head clownComment

After college I coached (I played in HS but not in college) and was fortunate enough to have a great staff around me (Our o-line coach was a four year starter for the gators at left tackle, our secondary coach played for the gators for 4 years and 9 years for the Seahawks) and I was lucky enough to go to coaching clinics in Florida, Georgia and Alabama. Guys benched because it was a good foundational workout, but they ALWAYS modified it in some way (Think of James Harrison using chains or the Tsunami bar). The real work was on legs and many of those exercises were nontraditional. Things that body builders wouldn't normally work on. That's not a knock on bodybuilders btw (I'm a power lifter and do many of the same exercises). But one of the main reasons that college programs have their own gyms is because of the type of sport specific equipment they use. That might be true but bench is still a indicator of strength to me. I never played high school football. But lifted like a "body builder" starting in like 7th grade. At 195-200lbs right around 18-19yr old my max bench was 300. And I had a ton of functional strength from all the sports I played along with working out. That strength I still use today at almost 40 at my job.
Anyway never squated or cleaned much back in the lifting days. The really long arm disadvantage still holds true for some of the tall guys on bench. But still shows work that was put into working out. And McCaffery looks built and worked out like a WR would I bet. So I would compare him to WR's and CB's. And no I don't think he will be a great blocker. But with technic, heart, leverage can make him ok at it. But Who wants a play maker blocking in the backfield anyway?
oh and no I can't see him as the best player of need on the board at 30. But would have a hard time passing in the 2nd depending who else and position there.

I agree with this to a point. If CM is there in the third and he's the best player available and all of our needs are reaches, I take him. I'm not realy sold on Karlos Williams (Haven't really seen him as a pro).thats sorta my point, if bell is often injured, suspended and run into the ground, why want to pay him the huge contract? i think karlos can spell bell for a few games. i feel the need for a olb, cb, safety, olb, ilb are more of a need than rb.

Bell can't seem to finish a season healthy; so we need to add a legit rb to keep Bell upright by season's end. Not in the first , second or third rounds thou.Comment

I think a part of that was Williams getting hurt and not being able to carry any of the load. With DW and KW, perhaps they'll split those carries a bit more. I have a hard time even remembering who the back up was last year when DW went down.
