I have tried to explain that on here before.. with little luck. The first Cleveland game was a prime example (36 touches). I asked why that was necessary... against the worst team in the league.... heard many say "Well he was suspended for the first 3 games or whatever, ride him til the wheels fall off"... Well... we see how that turned out.

Not concerned with Bells first game back from suspension. It's games like the Buffalo game where we should have rested our starters in the 4th but we kept giving the ball to Buffalo and then our D laid down late.

Same with the Miami playoff game. We turned a laugher into a nail biter.

Pretty sure there are are other games late in the season as well where we had a chance spell Bell but found ways to make a blowout into a close W.

There's the problem - rest the starters, give the ball away, our defense gets tired, and all of a sudden Miami (pick your team) is in the game again.

I wonder if "epic" comebacks are becoming more likely than they used to (maybe because of rule changes favoring the offense over the past few years), and it's just not as good an idea to rest the starters as it used to be.

We got our "6-PACK" - time to work on a CASE!

That's the issue here. Landry is fine and I'm totally good with his re-signing, as the backup for a HOF QB. The issue is that we need to start looking for the next guy. IMO, we are already on borrowed time with Ben. I don't know his age currently (guessing about 34), but I think he's already past his expiration date. (When I say expiration date, I still think he can play a productive role. Just saying that his body will start to break down a lot more.)

The club had the right idea last year, kicking tires on Dak Prescott (some rumblings that we were interested early on in the process). Landry is in no way a viable long-term guy... i.e. if Ben were to go down for an extended period, we'd be done and everyone knows it.
I wasn't hired for my disposition.

damn near every team would be done if their franchise QB went down for an extended period of time. Pats were on their 3rd QB by the 4th game. People really give Garrapolo praise for 2 games? That's crazy IMO.

it's rare for a team to survive once the franchise QB goes out. I think we will continue to "look" for the next QB but not until Ben misses significant time or gets ready to retire. Romo had a history of bad injuries to his neck and back. Ben is still playing "good" ball and is pretty healthy. This isn't the draft or FA to look for Ben's replacement IMO. No need to over react because a few fans put backup QB as the most important piece of the puzzle for winning a SB.

The Eagles just paid $5.5 million / year for Foles, with $7 million guaranteed. I'd prefer Foles to Landry, no question, but if you pay a backup that much, where else do you make a cut?

                  .
Last year, Philly gave Chase Daniel a 3 year, 21 million contract with a $3 million signing bonus and $12 million guaranteed.

Only the Iggles could possibly justify having $12.5 per year tied up in a couple of backup QB's.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

Hearing that they'll cut Daniel and have to eat some of that guarantee. And they wonder why they have very little cap space despite a roster devoid of high end talent.

$2.2 million per year is a bargain for an NFL QB and a king's ransom for most regular people...

It beats selling insurance or pouring concrete...

Also, he'll be a vested veteran and earn more for his NFL pension...
Actually, my post was NOT about you...but, if the shoe fits, feel free to lace that &!+€# up and wear it.

How bad was the 2013 NFL draft when it comes to QBs? Just read that of the 11 that were taken in that class, Landry Jones is the only one still with the team that drafted him.

That 2013 draft sucked in general. We should be thankful that we ended up with the best overall player in that draft, Le'Veon Bell.
