Steelers Get a 3rd Round Comp Pick

Apparently for Beachum, pick no. 105 overall. That is better than what I expected, and certainly better than what most expected. The explanation seems to be that Beachum was factored in at the full value of his deal.

First, that's a pretty amazing ROI for a seventh round pick. The Steelers got a lot of decent football out of Beachum, much of it at a premium position, and eventually got a comp third round pick. Nicely done.

As for the pick, it certainly gives them some options. They have some ammo to move up, or the ability to stand pat and choose to fortify another position.

Sweet...and comp picks are tradeable now for the first time ever...
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

We should take a kid named squid from the Planet Steelers board. Has a chip on his shoulder and ready to be proved right!

You know what would be funny?

If the Steelers cut Ryan Harris ($2 million savings vs only $337K dead money) and signed Beachum at a low rate to back up Villanueva and Gilbert...
Actually, my post was NOT about you...but, if the shoe fits, feel free to lace that &!+€# up and wear it.

From what I read, the Steelers got a 3rd because the 5 free agents they lost Beachum Blake Johnson McLendon and Spence started 36 games while the 2 they acquired Green and Harris barley played.

Wow! I am shocked, great news. I figured they'd knock it back to a 5/6 because Beachum was cut, but I guess his pretty lucrative deal (at face value) and buccoray61's info. we actually got a good deal his year.

Ruth I had a few buds pro sports writers who were at the Sr Bowl all week and they said Rivers lit it up in practice. Now I see a guy who played a bunch of 5 tech and has the size of a olb but looks like he takes plays off to me. He stacks n sheds okay but against a lower level of talent. As olb he has got to drop n cover. I'm not sure yet what he is 4-3 end or olb. For us olb will have to be it since he is to small for de. Just not sold yet on this guy. To me he is a project.
Wanted to get more opinions on this high ceiling high bust prospect.
