    Taking another CB early

Rumor is Colbert is going to take a CB early again: http://walterfootball.com/nflrumors/teamdraft/17-32

While I think we could use a CB late, pass rusher and TE are what I want early on. There are tons of CBs in this class, and we can get good value there. I just don't think it's good value.

I'd rather a few LBers before we go CB.
Praying Golson stays healthy this year and we sign a mid to upper tier CB in free agency(a man can dream)

BPA in a position of need is supposed to be our philosophy. If that remains the case, this rumor cannot be true. If there is a "better" linebacker I am confident we take em.

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

The Coach Formerly Considered Less Than Cowher

If, say, Sidney Jones from Washington happened to be available at #30, I would have no problem whatsoever with a second consecutive first round corner.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

I place an almost equal need on OLB and CB. There's an obvious need to get more production from our pass rush and to plan for life after Harrison. For me, a difference maker on the edge therefore gets the nod as the top priority.

However, I'm convinced the Steelers need another corner who can excel at man-to-man coverage and has the physicality to disrupt receivers at the line of scrimmage. If the corners were able to play press-man against the Patriots, I'm of the opinion we would have seen it used far more than the 3 times we did in that game. If we're going to get past the Patriots - or any team with a quarterback that delivers quick, accurate throws - we need versatile corners who can bump and run.

BPA at either one of those positions would make the most sense to me. Unless an absolute stud falls to pick number 30, I hope the Steelers don't look elsewhere.

or we draft a position of need and take BP at that position........(we will take an OLB)

based on Colbert's past, I'd say this is a true statement.

Read Artie Burns bio coming into this league. I'm afraid they don't know how to coach bump and run.

Exactly, we already have that on the roster with Burns.

Great. Teams only play one corner at a time now, right?

I'd be thrilled to come out of the draft with a corner and OLB among the first 2 picks. I don't really care about the order.

I'd prefer somebody that plays in the slot, or is at least capable of doing so. I think Cockrell and Burns are ok as starters. Burns should grow over the offseason, and I think Cockrell is ok. Both Gay and Golson are huge question marks, and there is also little depth behind Cockrell (aside from Shabazz).

As an alternative, I wouldn't mind a hybrid player - either a corner/safety or a safety/lb type to use in the nickel.

We have drafted fairly well of late but not with mid round corners. Frankly a kid like Butt from Michigan would be a good 3rd rounder imho if he checks out post injury. Some pass rushers may be around later. Myles Garrett tape is good to watch. Click on some of his highlights. What you will see is a solid pass rusher we could get in say the 3rd or 4th round. No it's not Garrett who will be the top pick but you'll consistently see 10 flash across the screen and that is Daeshon Hall who plays DE on the opposite side.
To sum it up I like corner early along with olb. Lets hope that whoever we select they contribute as we are going to be better in 17 with Cam n Bryant and if we add some talent to that we can get past that group from NE.
