    Noah Brown-the Next Hines Ward

Since Noah was a redshirt sophomore I didn't even realize he had declared. The first time I seen Noah play I was like thats Hines Ward...a bigger, stronger, version of Hines.

    Strengths

    1) At 6 foot 2, 218 Noah is built like a linebacker. He has thickness and muscle structure you don't typically see in a WR. He is physical with a capital P.
    2) Brutal crushing blocker. His blocking ability is elite. He consistently out physicals DBs and has been known to pancake linebackers.
    3) Amazing body control and awareness. Can make acrobatic catches. He may have had the best catch of the year against Oklahoma.
    4) Plays faster than he times.
    5) Runs strong routes, shows good quickness for a man his size.
    6) Very strong hands.
    7) Strong YAC ability. Single tacklers better bring their tackling technique but one DB doesn't typically bring him down.

    Weaknesses

    1) Very inexperienced
    2) After 4 TD game against Oklahoma got lost in the OSUs very talented offense.
    3) Had a couple concentration drops.
    4) Lack of college production.
    5) Won't time well at combine. I suspect 4.6 40.

    Summary-

Noah Brown doesn't fit the mold of a Tomlin pick. Tomlin will be intrigued by Noah Browns size, physicality and blocking ability but will he take a chance on a guy that doesn't time well outside of pads? His straight line separation isn't elite but he is a guy who will moves chains, gain YAC, punish the secondary, and is an amazing RZ threat. He is young and raw with very little film. Brown IMO is a guy who will have a productive NFL career, looks like a strong #2, with premiere NFL upside. He got lost in a Buckeye offense with poor QB play and many weapons. I must believe Brown makes it to us in the third round, and the Steelers need to take a hard look at him. Meyers just scratched the surface of Brown's ability. With a couple solid camps he could be the real deal.

    Compares to
Hines Ward and Jarvis Landry but is stronger and more physical than both.

I'll trust the FO when it comes to late round WRs. If they like Noah Brown, then I'm all for it. That being said, if Bryant is reinstated and comes back I think it will be hard for a WR to make this team. But,

      Brown
      Bryant (weed risk)
Coates (I assume that he'll be better after surgery / rest)
Heyward-Bey (Again injury risk, but I assume he'll heal up)
Rogers (I think showed enough to deserve a helmet)
Ayers (I think showed enough to deserve a helmet)

It's funny because if everything works out, we have a pretty great group at WR. But, if everything goes bad we have Brown / Rogers / Ayers

Noah Brown won't last that long. He is a third round talent only because JT Barrett is awful, and Curtis Samuels is a phenom. IMO, in a different offense Brown is a high to middle second round talent.

            Then I would say no...

also, isn't Mixon the guy who punched a woman on camera? No thanks. Last thing we need is another RB who will get into trouble off the field.

Yes, he is...first round talent in the fourth? Yeah I'll take a chance he has turned his life around.

Don't we have enough "gamble" players at WR all ready? I will trust whatever WR Colbert chooses in the later rounds because he seems to know what he's doing in regard to that position in the draft.

But I'm just saying, don't we need just a regular guy without all the baggage?

It's Joe Mixon the RB with all the baggage.

WR Noah Brown's only baggage says "Samsonite" on it.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

we have 1 WR with off field issues.

Wait, don't tell me, AB is a WR with issues as well? I hope we draft another WR in the 6th with his issues if possible.

The player I speak of is a RB and he did a Ray Rice on a girl while in college. We don't need that type of player in Pittsburgh right now.

If, as you point out, Brown is inexperienced, doesn't have a lot of game tape, AND ends up timing 4.6 in the 40 yard dash, how does that vault him into round 3? I'm honestly not being snarky, because I agree with most of what you stated...I like Brown a lot and I feel he was underutilized at tOSU. I would love for the Steelers to draft him...
Actually, my post was NOT about you...but, if the shoe fits, feel free to lace that &!+€# up and wear it.

I didn't take it as snarky. It's a legit question. I don't know it will put him in the third. It's a gross estimate. But, I've looked at a lot of WRs over the years and Noah's skill set, just his athletic ability size hands and physicality will place him higher than his lack of experience and 40 time might indicate. I would be utterly shocked if he makes it out of the third. I've been wrong before and I'll be wrong again. Guess we can revisit this after the draft. I was wrong about the round with Vonn Bell last year but the Saints got an immediate starter with Bell.

Yup, we conceivably have a a smurf WR corps if that pothead Bryant can't get back on the field. Yet if he does, this is the best WR corps in the league and, if they both (AB and Bryant) play like they're capable--the best corps of WR ever! Yes, it is a very bold statement.
