I don't think teams are allowed to sign players with as little pro experience as AV currently has to long term deals, even if they have vastly outperformed their rookie contract. For example, Russell Wilson was a Super Champion starting QB in his second season and made it back to the Super Bowl again in year 3, all under a rookie 3rd round draft pick salary. I think Seattle had to wait until year 4 before they could offer him a long term contract. Since Villenueva is a ERFA and cannot negotiate with any other teams, we will likely sign him to a one year bridge deal similar to Grimble and Boswell.Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.
Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.
We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.
We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.Comment

That's crazy talk. Tomlin and staff doesn't get credit only complaints"My team, may they always be right, but right or wrong...MY TEAM!"Comment

From some posters. From others, they don't get any complaints, only credit. And then, there's the segment of posters that will sometimes give credit when it is due, and sometimes be critical when it is warranted. Y'know, sort of like you used to do when LeBeau was the DC, until he left and you decided to go into Slappy-mode.Comment

Jaguars won’t pick up option on Kelvin Beachum’s contract
The Jaguars won’t pick up the option on the contract of offensive tackle Kelvin Beachum, NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reported Wednesday.
Just one year after signing a five-year deal with annual options attached, Beachum will be a free agent.
Beachum, 27, had a $1 million option bonus and would have made $7.5 million with the Jaguars in 2017. He came to Jacksonville last March after four seasons in Pittsburgh.
A seventh-round pick of the Steelers in 2012, Beachum was primarily the left tackle with the Steelers but played on the right side early in his career. He played in 15 games with the Jaguars last season at left tackle.Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Didn't follow how he played in Jax, but he must not have been all that this past season. It'll be interesting to see what kind of demand he generates in FA.Comment

Would he be a better back up than Ryan Harris??????"My team, may they always be right, but right or wrong...MY TEAM!"Comment
