    Crushing blow to our legacy

While the Steelers still have the most overall SB championships.........

Belichick NOW sits alone with the most SB victories for a coach
Brady NOW sits alone with the most SB victories for a QB
They now own the most impressive SB comeback ever

A most impressive dynasty during the challenging free agent era.

Truth is that the Pats (not the Steelers) are without question the premier NFL franchise.

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

Undoubtedly a great combo, but at least three of those Super Bowl wins should have asterisks by them, since they got them by way of cheating.

Ah, I don't see it that way. Our dynasty continues on. A model of consistency over many decades.

Our franchise has the most wins since the AFL-NFL merge, the most playoff wins, The most SB wins, I think the most division championships, on and on.. I like to look at the big picture.

Dynasties continue on for a long time, not just a few years... Roman Empire or the Egyptian Dynasties were over a long long period of time in history, so with that said, how can a true dynasty either a country, or sports team/ club only be a decade?

Anyway, I still consider our Steelers heads and above all others...

When Brady retires, we'll see if they can keep playing at this high level...

              Actually this is NOT true.
In sports verbiage a "dynasty" never encompasses a teams entire history. It is a period of championship level success. A decade is actually a common length considered a dynasty. If you go decades between championships that have no common players or coaches, it ain't one long dynasty my friend.

When the KG and Paul Pierce led Celtics won the championship, nobody on the planet said it was a part of the Bill Russell "dynasty".

The Packers "dynasty" ended in the 60s and neither Brett Farve nor Aaron Rodgers is a part of a Packer dynasty.

The 70s Steelers were absolutely a dynasty even at a decade long. Considering the decades long gap before Bens first championship this current team is not a part of that dynasty.

Google the expression "Steelers dynasty" and you will never see this current group included as a part of the Steeler dynasty of the 70 Steelers.

I really don't care or want a team to win or lose to protect a legacy. All that I know is I love the Steelers and it's a great franchise to love. Besides living in Ga, I kinda was pulling for NE, just because all of the obnoxious Falcon fans that's here.

NE has two dynasties, one from the 2000's and one from the 2010's. They just happen to have the same HC and QB. A HC and QB do not qualify as a dynasty.

Interesting perspective. I will have to think about that.

Here's a post-game quote from Belichick that may be of interest to Steelers fans:

“The most important thing tonight is the team win,” Belichick said. “I am happy for our team, our players and our organization. Everybody worked so hard for this. The only reason I am here is because of what our players did, what our assistant coaches and coordinators did, but Chuck Noll is a tremendous coach. A tremendous legacy. I coached against Chuck in his final game. I always admired Chuck and his style. The way his teams played. It is an honor to even be mentioned in the same sentence with Chuck Noll. Tonight is really about our team. It is not about some record or something like that. It is about what our team accomplished. They deserve to be champions. They earned it tonight.”

Nah, Who wrote it? Who originally coined the term a football dynasty? Just someone or a group in the media. Someone floated that term in the 80's after the Steelers won 4 in 6 years. A dynasty lasts over a much longer period of time than just a decade. Look at the broader picture. Not just the players involved. Look at the consistency of play- the number of wins, the number of playoff wins, the number of divisional titles, and yes the Championships.

Look at what our worst record has been over a 40 year period..Since the merger. 5-11 and that was once? Another 6-10 one or 2 times? Pretty consistent. The Steelers have the MOST wins of any NFL franchise since the 2 leagues merged.

I would say the Cowboys have had a dynasty ever since their inception, but they've also had some pretty bad seasons in there with awful records. Same goes with the 49'ers...

It's all speculative. I just believe that our dynasty with only 3 Emperors in a 45 year stretch is the best. By far the most accomplishments over that span than any other franchise. And it should continue with a great ownership and FO.

For those few Pats fans on here, I beleive your dynasty started when Brady was drafted, but is in it's infancy stages. Belichick was a terrible coach up until he drafted TB, so we'll see if the party continues for them post-Tom, but to me, and many others, 15 years just isn't enough time yet to anoint them as one of the best dynasties. Their book is only in its first couple of chapters. Pre- Brady, NE wasn't even on the map in a football sense.

Thanks for posting. I did not hear his PC. Classy. It truly was a great 'team' win. Never gave up. Congrats to the Pats organization.

I don't believe they are in 2 separate dynasties, but all in the same.

Pathetic. Can't believe these fools keep winning SB's due to opponents making nine headed decisions.

Is is it really too hard to run the damn ball in the NFL? It's like these coaches are players by Madden.

Hell, even the Pats tried to lose the game by passing the ball.
