As much as it seems like Tom Brady and the Patriots win every year, it is actually a bit deceiving - partly because of the two losses they had to the NYG I suppose. They actually went 10 years in between Super Bowl wins after their run in the early 2000's. Super Bowl 39 was the 3rd win, and then they didn't win again until SB 49. The losses were SB 42 and SB 46 - so a pretty nice spread of appearances in there even without winning it.
Peyton Manning's SB wins were SB 41 and SB 50 - 9 years apart. Losses for him were SB 44 to the Saints as a Colt, and SB 48 to the Seahawks as a Bronco.
The Steelers and Roethlisberger won SB 40 and SB 43, and lost SB 45. This year will be the 6th SB since their last appearance. It's really not that long of a spread since the last one, and clearly the Steelers have been the 2nd best team, and Ben the 3rd most successful QB since 2000. That's not a surprise really, but thought it was worth mentioning among all the doom and gloom.
