    I'm A Little Surprised...

...that neither Keith Butler nor Todd Haley seem to be getting much love from the head coaching rumor mill...

Not that I would mind either of them hanging around Pittsburgh, but it seems like guys who have done less in the league tend to get the attention...
Actually, my post was NOT about you...but, if the shoe fits, feel free to lace that &!+€# up and wear it.

A couple weeks ago Haley indicated that he's completely happy in Pittsburgh right now and I can't blame him, he's coaching a future HOFer. As far as Butler goes, he still has some work to do IMO before he'll get offers, the defense has improved to be sure, but its not like the Steelers can lean on it for any length of time. Maybe after the Steelers win #7 in February the offers will come in.

I read somewhere (so must be true!) that unlike last year, Haley said he will entertain HC offers. However he also said he doesn't want it to be till after the playoffs.

Teams aren't run very well. There's a reason these same teams are constantly looking at new coaches. Mostly the guys that got HC buzz last year but didn't get hired will get their jobs this season. Haley would be a good hire in Jax where he has a young QB to work with and he does have previous experience. I think he made a bad impression his first go around and it's just taken longer to shed that label. But it wouldn't surprise me if he got some interest this or next season. I think it's hilarious that Vance Joseph is a HC candidate. That Dolphin's defense was terrible. But I suppose it helps fulfill Rooney Rule obligations as well. I know Dolphin's fans are hoping he leaves. Butler would need a couple of seasons of dominance to be considered imo.

Butler doesn't surprise me. The defense has been good down the stretch but struggled early. If they have a strong year next year, I think he'll generate more buzz.

I'm surprised that Haley hasn't gotten any buzz. Despite his 19-26 record as a head coach, he did have one division title with the chiefs. He wasn't so awful as to preclude ever getting another shot.

Can't understand the mentality of the NFL.
Who would want Todd Haley as their Head Coach??
Big difference between putting an Offense together and Managing an entire team (especially when you're not a very likable guy)

Lets say TOMLIN resigned at the end of the year. Who really would want the guy as the Steelers H.C.??

If I'm Haley it has to be the perfect fit for me to leave Pittsburgh. The guy is basically playing Madden with the best RB, WR and a top 3 QB.

I'm not leaving that to go HC the Jets for 2 years before getting fired.

                This.

But never understimate the desire to see one's name in bright lights. And the allure of a much bigger paycheck.

IMO, Haley would be a good fit in Buffalo...

Doug Whaley was with the Steelers for a long time before joining the Bills...now, he's in charge of the HC search there...I think he would be able to vet Haley pretty well with his Steelers connections...

Buffalo had a good offense under Anthony Lynn as HC...Anthony Lynn is well respected by the players and is a good friend of Todd Haley (I read a story about how, when both were assistants in Dallas that Lynn was a pedestrian victim in a hit-and-run and Haley stayed with him and tried to keep him alive long enough for the ambulance to arrive)...

Where Buffalo is weak is the defense...when Rex hired his brother, that was the beginning of the end...
