Finally, a OLB who can cause mayhem and destruction. The kid is the real deal. Can we please have another for the other side?

We do...he's his grey haired counterpart!!
At this point i'm ready to give James Harrison another year until they find his replacement.
I made a post back in November hoping Bud Dupree was the key to us going anywhere. I'm pleasantly surprised after thinking I was being over optimistic. But I knew we needed something that resembled a pass rush. Playing JH full time and getting Dupree in the lineup has helped us play playoff caliber football. Here We Go Steelers, Here We Go...

Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.
Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.
We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.
We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.Comment

Bud Dupree says he was fined for hit on Matt Moore
Posted by Josh Alper on January 12, 2017, 1:53 PM EST
The NFL and NFLPA are each looking into the way the concussion protocol was followed after Dolphins quarterback Matt Moore took a huge hit from Steelers linebacker Bud Dupree during last Sunday’s playoff game between the teams.
Moore missed one play before being reinserted into the lineup, raising questions about how thoroughly he was examined before being cleared to return. There’s no word on the findings of those investigations, but one league review has apparently been completed.
Dupree said, via Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com, that he has been fined as a result of the hit, which drew a flag for roughing the passer during the game. Dupree said he wasn’t sure of the amount of the fine — the NFL’s fine schedule calls for a minimum fine of $18,231 for a first roughing the passer offense — but that he plans to appeal it.
Moore played out the rest of the game and said after the game that he “got smoked,” but felt confident that he did not sustain a concussion.
UPDATE 2:01 p.m. ET: Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the fine is the standard $18,231.

'It's gonna be a great year'
Posted May 27, 2017

Dupree thinking big while enjoying availability at OTAs.
The vibe on the South Side has been one of excitement and enthusiasm during the opening week of OTAs.
Linebacker Bud Dupree is understandably more excited and enthusiastic than most.
Dupree didn’t participate in OTAs last season because of a groin injury that ultimately required sports hernia surgery.
Training camp was likewise lost.
As a result, Dupree opened the season on the Reserve/Injured list and wasn’t activated until Nov. 19.
Football in shorts is understandably a much more appealing alternative.
“It means a lot,” Dupree acknowledged this week at the UPMC Rooney Sports Complex. “I’m blessed to be healthy enough to compete in this atmosphere.”
Adding to Dupree’s excitement and anticipation is what he might be able to do in a season that’s preceded by being able to get his work in during OTAs and at St. Vincent College in July and August, something Dupree is envisioning leading into the 2017 season.
“I’m gonna turn it up another notch,” he insisted. “It’s gonna go down.
“It’s gonna be a big year, man. It’s gonna be a great year. It’s gonna be a big year for me but not only for me, for my whole defense as a whole.”
Dupree wound up having a December to remember despite the late start last season.
After taking baby steps back into the rotation at outside linebacker in his first three regular-season games (Nov. 20 at Cleveland through Dec.4 against the New York Football Giants), Dupree started the final four (Dec. 11 at Buffalo through Jan. 1 against Cleveland).
He wound up with 4.5 sacks, two passes defensed and a forced fumble.
Dupree also started the Steelers’ three playoff games.
“I got comfortable, they took care of me by just easing me in, not throwing me out there,” he said. “They tried to make sure I was preserved for the end of the season.
“It worked out and I was just happy.”
He’ll be happier this season if he can realize his goal of being recognized as a player that can be counted upon for “high energy and making plays all around the field.”
It starts with OTAs.
Dupree has been enjoying those thoroughly will finding his place in a defense that harbors great expectations.
“it’s great communication, it’s awesome, that’s the amazing part,” he said. “We gotta stay on top of it.
“We’re going to work hard every day to be what we want to be, and our goal is to be the best.”

No limit for Dupree

Bud Dupree doesn't want to put a number on how many sacks he is looking for this year.
LATROBE, Pa. – In his two seasons Bud Dupree has accounted for 8.5 sacks in regular season play, four as a rookie, and 4.5 last year when he only played in seven games, spending the first part of the season on the injured reserve/designated to return list.
This year, he wants the number to grow. The question is by how much?
“I just want to get as many as I can,” said Dupree. “I don’t want to put a limit on it. I want as many as I can.”
That answer comes as no surprise from Dupree, who continually is growing and developing. He comes into the 2017 healthy, at a comfortable 253 pounds after dropping weight over a year ago and keeping in shape since.
“I thought you had to be big to play in the league,” said Dupree. “I am starting to see it’s not about that. It’s about being on the field long, having a lot of stamina. Being on the field for every play, every down, and still being strong.
“You can be more explosive. When you are heavier you can’t run as fast, as far.”
Bullish on Watt: Rookie T.J. Watt is making an impression early on in training camp, and while the way he uses his hands has been talked about plenty, it was his bull-rush that stood out.
“The first rush I think it’s really important to show the power,” said Watt. “I just wanted to get out there and try to get better, I’m not always going to use the hands and I want to get better, that’s what training camp is for.
“I’m developing everything about my game but definitely anything in the pass rush is a key emphasis for me. Obviously, I would like to use my hands but at times I am trying to do other moves. That’s why I’m not expecting to be successful at each and every attempt and that’s why it’s training camp. I am trying to work on many different things and see what works best for me.”
Today’s leftovers: With the players enjoying a day off, there is no better time to share some of what was said, that you might not have heard, at camp yesterday.
Ramon Foster on if he likes seeing Cameron Heyward back on the field in pads:
“For the fans yeah, for me and him back and forth, no. Cam is a guy that gets me prepared for games. I hope I do the same for him. To go against him, have his leadership on the field for those guys, it’s a different tempo. It’s like when Maurkice (Pouncey) is down for us. Having Cam on that defensive front seven for sure is captain status. He deserves all of that.”
T.J. Watt on the difference he notices from college to the NFL:
“As a rookie it’s the conditioning part of it. We are getting so many reps. You are on every special team. Deebo (James Harrison) is not training. I want as many reps as I can get, but at the same time I have to be smart and take care of my body to get those reps.”
Fitzgerald Toussaint on starting off strong with the pads on:
“My motto is never get comfortable. Come in here on a daily basis and put in the work that needs to be put in.”

Telling you, at the end of this year, Dupree is going to be the linebacker the league is talking about. That hit he put on Moore of the Dolphins in the playoffs is just a taste of what the league is going to get this year.Comment
