They must be here already. I've heard the announcer call Jarvis Landry's name twice already lol

I'll trade Jarvis Jones and Landry Jones for Jarvis Landry (and Jones Jones, I suppose).
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

PFT reporting Jay Ajayi had X-Rays but was not disclosed on what and Ajayi said 'he's good'. We'll see about that, but something to monitor. He was already playing with a bum shoulder. For once our playoff opponents may be the team seriously hobbled by injuries. In addition to this, Tannehill is out and either half or 3/4 of their secondary has turned over this year as well.

is it too cynical of me to look at the pats blowing out the fins (like a championship team should) and the steelers needing overtime against the worst team in the league and be discouraged? I get that we were resting players. I didn't see the pats game so I don't know if they did or not, but it sure seems like many of our guys were mailing it in today. I can't imagine any player for bellichick doing the same.

but to the point of this thread, happy about miami next week. let's go oakland because I also agree that's an easier path than through KC.

I hate to try to speculate what players are thinking because we just never know. But the Patriots had something riding on this game (#1 seed) so it was not meaningless like ours. With that said, it always seems that we play down to our competition and you rarely see that from the Pats. I still give no craps about today's performance vs the Clowns given absolutely nothing was riding on it. It showed for 3 quarters then we magically turned the heat up when needed

youre fooling yourself if you think the players on the field didnt start trying until the 4th quarter

I agree. And if the Browns were a real NFL team (that doesn't call a screen on the 5 yd line) the Steelers likely lose this game.

Those were second string players playing for their roster spots next year. You can be sure they were trying. Their future depends on it.

yup, unfortunately the defense was mostly first string, all game.

There's just another level that kicks in, I'm not saying they weren't trying.

Case in point:. Re-watch the Clowns second touchdown to that TE. Mitchell had him square in his sights and was ready to unload and just backed off right as he caught it. Playoff game he's blowing dude up hoping to break it up.
I'm not questioning the efforts, there just seemed to be another notch that kicked in finally when the game was on the line at the end (playcalling wise, going all out wise too).

And to be clear I was frustrated with their play but partially knew we would step it up and partially knew the Browns would just Browns all over themselves.

Just last season, NE had the exact same week 17 scenario...Win in Miami and clinch home field throughout. They failed just last year, and it likely cost them a SB, since they had to travel to Denver rather than host the Broncs at Foxboro..

Pretty much first stringers on defense that almost have the game away ...
