Tuitt/Green - solid answers today, or just chill till Friday?

Anyone think we'll get a definite "He's in" or "He's out" for either guy today?

Or will we have to wait to see how much either guy has practiced by Friday?

Dr. Labs said on one of the Steeler vids that Tuitt was walking slowly, but no crutches or even a limp, getting on the plane back from Cincinnati.

Haven't heard a thing about Green.

We should hear about Tuitt's MRI results today, but likely nothing about Green, since he's in the concussion protocol and the coach really has no input on that until the neurologist clears him. The NFL has scolded several coaches this year for merely speculating about the availability of players in the concussion protocol.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

“Some in-game injuries to talk about: Stephon Tuitt has a knee sprain. That has been evaluated. He actually is downstairs rehabilitating right now. He’ll have an opportunity this week. We’ll watch him participate over the course of the week and see what that participation looks like. Obviously the position that he plays gives him an opportunity, and it would probably be less likely if he were a wide receiver or a cornerback but such is life in football. We’ll give him an opportunity to show his overall readiness.
The last one is Ladarius Green. He’s in the concussion protocol. He’s at the UPMC Concussion Clinic right now being evaluated, so I don’t have an update on him. We’ll follow the protocol to the letter, as we always do, and keep you guys informed as to his status. And as often is the case, his participation or level of participation is an indication of where it’s going or where it’s maybe not going. We’ll be prepared to make necessary adjustments that include him or exclude him, depending on where those winds take us.”

Ladarius Green saw doctor about concussion Tuesday
Posted by Josh Alper on December 20, 2016, 5:07 PM EST

Steelers tight end Ladarius Green remains in the concussion protocol after being injured against the Bengals late in last Sunday’s game.

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said Tuesday that Green was visiting with a doctor at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center for an evaluation of his injury. There were reports during the offseason that Green was dealing with lingering symptoms from a concussion he suffered last season, although the Steelers and Green said that an ankle injury was the reason for his absence from the field.

Tomlin said that Green’s history with concussions is not making the team handle this injury any differently than they would under other circumstances.

“We’ll follow the protocol to the letter as we always do,” Tomlin said, via the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. “His level of participation is an indicator of where it’s going or not going.”

Green has developed into a frequent and productive target for Ben Roethlisberger in recent weeks and he’d be missed against the Ravens on Christmas Day if he hasn’t been cleared to return by that point.

Tomlin also said that defensive end Stephon Tuitt has a chance to play this week after hurting his knee against Cincinnati and that he “fully expects” running back DeAngelo Williams to return after missing six games with a knee injury.

Pure speculation but Green will not play. His history will not allow it. Burfict head shot was way more intense but he probably hasn't had any issues or many and that's why he could come back. The risks are higher for someone like Green who has multiple head injuries. He may be done for the year.

Tuitt, Green sit out Wednesday’s practice

As expected, Steelers tight end Ladarius Green and defensive end Stephon Tuitt did not practice Wednesday.

Green saw a doctor Tuesday after suffering a concussion last Sunday vs. the Bengals. Tuitt left that game early with a knee injury.

Green has a history of concussions, so he’ll be evaluated closely before he’s allowed to return. Safety Shamarko Thomas also sat out Wednesday due to a concussion.

Steelers Coach Mike Tomlin said earlier in the week that Tuitt has a chance to play this week. Tomlin also said he expects running back DeAngelo Williams to play, and Williams was a full participant in Wednesday’s practice. Williams would have returned last week but was held out after experiencing some swelling in his knee.

It would show a lot of grit, if Tuitt were to strap it up and give it a go. Not saying he would be great, just pointing out how tough of a mindset the kid has, if he goes out and sacrifices himself with that injury. Not that many guys would.

As I have suggested before, showing "grit" by playing through pain is one thing. Playing EFFECTIVELY while in pain is quite another. I'd prefer that Tuitt not "strap it up and give it a go" if he is doing so just to display his grit. He needs to able to rush the passer and stop the run. If he can't do that, Baltimore will quickly detect that weakness and exploit it.

Neither Green nor Tuitt have practiced yet this week as of today. Not looking too good for either of them to go on Sunday.

                            Jimmy Smith still not practicing

Ravens cornerback Jimmy Smith did not practice again Thursday.

The Ravens don’t have to designate injured players as questionable, doubtful or out until Friday, but at this point it seems Smith probably won’t be available against the Steelers in a must-win game for the Ravens.

Smith suffered an ankle injury Dec. 12 at New England and has not practiced since. The Ravens also practiced Thursday without defensive end Brent Urban (illness) and rookie linebacker Kamalei Correa (ribs). Wide receiver Steve Smith Sr. was a limited participant due to a toe injury.

In Pittsburgh, tight end Ladarius Green (concussion) and defensive end Stephon Tuitt (knee) again missed practice for the Steelers. It seems as if both teams could have to play Sunday without key defensive players.

Agree. Missing the all important Thursday practice is usually your answer for Sunday. IMO neither will play.
Coates pulled his hamstring in practice today so there is no guarantee he will be available.
