Le'Veon is a very patient runner behind his OL, but not very patient behind the wheel

Le’Veon Bell, who got high and drove to airport once, says Pittsburgh can’t drive
Posted by Darin Gantt on December 16, 2016, 7:37 AM EST

Le’Veon Bell was once arrested for DUI and possession of marijuana on his way to the airport, telling cops that “I smoked two hours ago. I’m not high anymore.”

But people in Pittsburgh, according to him, are bad drivers.

Via Sean Gentille of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the Steelers running back went on a social media tirade about the dangers of local traffic including the “Pittsburgh left,” the practice of making your turn if you’re first in line at an intersection before the oncoming traffic (which has the right of way) goes straight.

“I’m sitting at the red light, and the light turns green. I’m driving straight. The person that’s across from me, they’re turning left. They’re not supposed to go left until after I go straight. Soon as this light hits green, he hit them burners and turned left!,” Bell said. “This dude literally cut me off then had the nerve to stick his hand out the window like, ‘ah, ‘preciate it!’ Dude, I never gave you the OK. I never gave you the go-ahead. I never gave you the blinkers! You just took that on your own!”

He had some other gripes, including: “People out here treat yield signs like red lights. Then, people wanna wonder ‘why’s there so much traffic in Pittsburgh all the time?” It’s so much traffic because you’re stopping at yield signs when you’re supposed to be yielding and not stopping. Just yield!”

At least he was in the passenger seat of the car he was in at the time when he recorded the messages, so he’s learned something. Even if his own driving record shows that he doesn’t always use the best judgment behind the wheel.

Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

He's right that there are a lot of bad drivers out there. However, he has nothing to gain by bashing the people of the city in which he plays. Again, a lot of these players would be better off to stay away from social media.

I was in Pittsburgh for the Giants game and the shuttle driver told me Pittsburgh drivers are horrible..LOL

I wish the morons around where i live would learn to yield instead of stopping also

He can rant about it all day long and it won't offend me; what he says is true. I just don't see any advantage in him spouting this over social media ... not sure he's the one who should be pointing the problem out ... especially when he's got a recent DUI on his record.

If anyone should have complained about bad Pittsburgh drivers, it's Ben and his helmetless Hayabusa.

I don't think its the Pittsburgh drivers as much as it is the poor infrastructure of the city. If you don't jump the light to make your left you could be there for multiple cycles, while not the preferred driving technique it is necessary at times, same with yield signs there are p,aces where there is a yield sign and about 100 ft of merge lane, can't yield if there's even 1 car coming you have to stop, of course there are bad drivers everywhere, the city's transportation infrastructure is in dire need of design, change, repair and replace, the streets can't handle the population even into the suburbs now.

I don't think it has anything to do with the design of the city or even just Pittsburgh. I live in south Florida and when the snow birds start to flock here for the winter, the roadways turn ugly.

Have you ever been to Pittsburgh and driven a car while there? The first issue that the city has is that it is shaped like a triangle due to the rivers, the topography hinders normal traffic patterns, then you have the bridges which are numerous and now you have growth in the suburbs and these suburbanites are using the entertainment and shopping of the city, the infrastructure can't handle the volume of cars and people that want access to the city's entertainment, be it sports, cultural, or educational. The roads are in dire need of upgrade.

I have been and I have driven, but the drivers are still bad when they get to south Florida, so i'm not sure It can be blamed on the shape of the city. I won't even ride with my own family members from Pittsburgh when they come down to visit.

Fair enough, but navigating Pittsburgh via car is not for the faint of heart to be sure, the city is desperate need of many qualified civil engineers to sort things out.
