Then travel and a glorified walkthrough on Wednesday. The game plan install is bare minimum. No need to complicate things any further by even considering going for 2 point conversions on early scores. You can go back to your 2 point conversion playbook late in the game if necessary (such as if you are down 8 points in the 4th quarter, obviously), but early on, just kick the PAT. It's that simple.

Playing Thursday games after a Sunday game is so mind-numbingly stupid. If the league wants to continue to mandate that every team plays on Thursday night (for this almost as dumb Color Rush nonsense), then they need to schedule those teams' bye week for week before for all games except the season opener. Don't play Thursday games in weeks 2 and 3 (byes too early) or week 17 (bye too late) but have the Thursday night opener to start the season, then a Thursday night game every week from week 4-16 (with the extra 2 Thursday games on Thanksgiving) to make it a total of 16 Thursday games overall so that all 32 teams get one. Having the bye before a Thursday gives players 10 days off before their Thursday night game, and then another 9 days off after their Thursday night game. Sure, the teams playing on TNF in weeks 4 & 16 will complain about having their byes in weeks 3 and 15 respectively, but the league already schedules byes as early as week 4 and as late as week 13 now, so this isn't too far off. It's an easy fix and much, much safer than what they are having these guys put their bodies through with 2 NFL games in 5 days’ time now.
wow, thanks for the inside skinny. i wasnt aware that 2pt plays were so difficult and complicated that you need 3 more days of practice to install. i guess i will have to go back and review all of our 2pt attempts and see just how crazy they were. i took it for granted that they were just high percentage, short yardage plays that you could run more than once a season.

Why he chose not to go for 2 points is the strategy that we don't know as fans. Ruthless' explanation and timeline make perfect sense if you're willing to allow that Mike Tomlin knows his team better than any fan. Going for 2 point conversion on normal weeks early in games does have strategy to them, one he trusts Ben and two, if you get an opponent behind the 8-ball early in a game it is a benefit. The Steelers missing 4 consecutive 2 pt conversions is an anomaly over the past two years, so much so, that I doubt the Steelers had missed more than 2 consecutive tries (I did not research this stat but I just don't recall the Steelers missing more than 2 consecutive attempts.) in that time frame until they missed 4 versus the Cowboys.

The other factor that may come into play is the opponent's attempt and success rate at 2 pt conversions. If the opponent doesn't attempt the 2 pt. conversion often or has a poor success rate then going for 2 points has benefit in that it puts the opponent in an uncomfortable position of potentially having to do something that they are not good at or don't practice often.

There are benefits if you wish to see them; if you don't, then there isn't anything that anyone can say or do to change your mind about the extra point vs 2 point conversion debate.

Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

Because, he got his butt handed to him recently when going for two. Tomlin is human.

I wonder how much influence Ben has in these decisions.

Maybe they only work when Ben calls for them since he is one of Cowhers players?

Why didn't he go for two in the Colts game? Because, he chose not to, it's really not that difficult.

Wrong, wrong, wrong aren't your paying attention? Tomlin only solicits information from the posters on this board, you know because We here are so much smarter than all of the Coaching staff.
