Colts quarterback Andrew Luck is in the league’s concussion protocol, meaning he’s a long shot to play on Thanksgiving against the Steelers.

Although Luck finished yesterday’s win over the Titans and did not appear to have any injury issues afterward, Colts coach Chuck Pagano announced today that Luck said after the game that he wasn’t feeling well, and he is in the concussion protocol now.

Being in the concussion protocol doesn’t always mean a player actually has a concussion. It means at first that the player is being evaluated for a concussion, and then that a player has several stages to go through before he can be cleared to play.

Given that the Colts will be back on the field Thursday, it seems very unlikely that Luck could be cleared in time to play. Pagano said backup quarterback Scott Tolzien will prepare to be the starter this week

Great. Another rookie QB for the Steeler defense to make look like the next Steve Young.

Except that Tolzien is in his 6th NFL season.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

I'm even more petrified. A 6th-year guy masquerading as a rookie.

Can we lodge a protest with the NFL before the game???

This would be Tolzien's 3rd start in 6 seasons. He has 1 TD and 5 interceptions.

OMG, it's the worse case scenario!

I remember thinking similar things about Tebow before our playoff game with Denver.

How the hell do the Colts have that guy as a backup?

Think about this next time someone on the board complains about Landry Jones. In general, back up QBs in the NFL are not solid. Very few teams have a guy they are grooming for the future with any real talent.

He was Aaron Rodgers' backup in Green Bay for 3 seasons before joining the Colts. Before that, he was the 3rd QB for the Niners behind Alex Smith and Colin Kaepernick back when San Fran was good under Jim Harbaugh.

yup, but no team wasted a draft pick to get him.

So, does this mean that we'll play super-ultra-conservative on offense, scoring <14 points and bend (over-backwards) and hope-not-to-break on defense?

Butler will load up the box, stifle the run and dare the colts to win through the air. It's what he learned from lebeau. Who can argue with that? It worked against tebow.......
