When the Steelers string together a couple of wins, all the ridiculous psychoanalysis will stop.

Sometimes a a guy is who he is and a rookie is better. McCullers is from Tennessee right? They have a knack for underachieving and didn't live up to expectations this year. I think it's one of those college programs who coddle their players. I went there for a year and they are treated like rock stars.
I get that he was a 6th rounder. It doesn't invalidate the argument. Drafting slugs without a motivation to play isn't acceptable in any round.

Yeah, I wouldn't count on that.

Yeah, the ridiculous psychoanalysis will forever remain regardless of outcome...it's just a different kind of ridiculous psychoanalysis when we win compared to the ridiculous psychoanalysis when we lose. Ridiculous psychoanalysis is what we do best here!
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

Absolutely. I would even go as far as to say, that we crazy, entitled Steeler fans might be the best at ridiculous psychoanalysis. I personally take great pride in it.

True.. but being beat out by a rookie when you are a 6th rounder is common in the NFL.

By a 3rd round rookie from the FCS? Those guys usually need some time.

And just like how you sometimes have to tell Sigmund Freud that a cigar is just a cigar, you sometimes have to tell the Planet Steelers board that a loss to the Ravens is just a loss to the Ravens.

He went in the 3rd for a reason. The school has nothing to do with the players skill.

some great NFL players went to HBCU's

The talent of the schools he played against had a factor in where he went. Not as easy to evaluate the talent and a D line talent when he dominates but dominates against a lower level. Don't think he truly started turning heads until post season games and such with pro scouts and coaches. There showing the same skills against better talent was what was needed to know if he could make it at this level and what got him to go in the 3rd. Hard to imagine if he went to say Alabama or OSU he wouldn't have been a 1st or 2nd rounder.

If he went to Alabama or OSU and had the same production he would have gone top 10. The unknown is what sent him to the third round. Once he showed up at camp he had the ability to show something nobody knew about him yet. As a player is he just a guy from a small school (not worthy of that draft status) or a stud who is more defined by his monster numbers (worthy of a much better draft pick)?

If the latter is the case then no reason he wouldn't beat out a guy like McCullers.

Ya, that was really my point, sometimes the team just goes through a losing streak. There doesn't always have to be some deep issue causing us to lose.
