Is/should butler be on the hot seat?

Preface this with of course the players have to make the plays. You can call a great game but if you don't have the horses it doesn't matter.

But this is now a season and a half of bad defense and squandered leads. The offense gives this team two leads in the final minutes and the defense gives up two TD's - the last allowing a rookie qb to go 75 yards in 33 seconds.

Someone needs to be be held accountable.

I would point out that futility on the defensive side of the field has been there for even longer than that, extending back several years into the LeBeau era. Given that, it would be reasonable to say the accountability may also lie above and beyond the DC.

I agree - someone has to be accountable. Tomlin? Our FO for spending high draft picks and beacoup bucks only to wind up with half a team that often looks like they wouldn't start anywhere else?

If I were the Rooneys, and then seeing that fans are selling seats, I'd be upset. Surely that's not a good omen for future cash flow to them.

We got our "6-PACK" - time to work on a CASE!

I would say Tomlin is ultimately accountable - but no way he's on the hot seat. so the pawns get sacrificed first.

          Accountability.

That is the word. It just seems like every week, every year, it is the same lip-service.

If you want to blame it on the players, bench some guys. Or cut'em.
If you want to blame the scheme or the coaches, then someone should lose their job. (Lebeau is coming out looking better and better, the more you watch this team play.)
If you want to blame it on a lack of talent, fine. That is what the draft is for. Fire some scouts.

I feel like I've been saying this for a few years now. What we'll here, is a few Tomlinisms, and Ben giving us his standard answers like "I've got to be better..." etc.
I wasn't hired for my disposition.

The entire coaching staff should be on the hot seat.

Whoever is responsible for signing these 'safeties' that aren't safe should be on the hot seat. Wow, does this team miss Troy and Clark.

                Yes.
There's a lot of high drafted talent playing on that side of the ball

They say we don't have the "horses" but I'm not so sure that's true. Tuitt, Shazier, Heyward, and Timmons are great players yet they cant stop the run? It wasn't the secondary as much as it was that front 7 who is getting their butts beat week in and week out. Yes, having Dupree and Golson would have helped this year. But, I'm not sure our current DC could have gotten anything out of them. I wouldn't just fire Butler to fire him but if there was a terrific DC out there I would certainly give him a hard look.

While the fan base wants the Steelers to do something, anything the reality is not much can be done til the off-season.

We have too many young guys and injuries. Timmons is not all that good any longer and likely gone after the season. Dupree, Golson, Hargrave and Burns are hopefully quality starters who'll only get better with health and experience. I'm sure we'll use the draft to go all defense again. If D still sucks next season then yeah, make a change.
