What do you think would happen if we went 3-5 the rest of the way?

Final record, 7-9. Injuries, conservative/stupid game plans, remaining schedule. Feels like an actual possibility to me. Would anyone get fired over it?

They might axe an assistant or two.

I'll ask, what if they finish 8-8? Pretty sure a significant portion of this board would then be happy with business as usual.

I doubt anyone gets fired, and i doubt they finish worse than 8-8

But if they do finish around 7-9 it puts them in an interesting draft spot in a draft loaded with DBs. Tennessee has 2 high picks, potential trade up for someone like Jabril Peppers? They havent traded up in a while (polamalu, holmes the most recent I think).

Adding a dynamic piece does set up the defense to really improve going into 2017. Artie Burns looks like a legitimate player, I do still hold out hope for Golson as a NB as well. Not having Dupree as a piece of the defense this year has really set them back but a core of Dupree, Shazier, Heyward, Tuitt, Hargrave, Burns, Golson, maybe Davis, and some high draft pick could have the defense improving tremendously over the next season or two. Very talented young group

I have a feeling Jabril Peppers is going to be one of those players that comes around every 20-30 years and peeks in college at insane levels and is average or barely above average in the NFL.

I know the guy looks like a man playing against kids, but for some strange reason I feel it'll not transition as well in the NFL.

As far as the Steelers go, I'll be sick if they do not make the playoffs. No one will get fired if they do finish below .500, although I'd stand behind any decision to fire anyone besides Tomlin.

Possibly...there are still a lot of really good safeties in the draft, though.

I think peppers could certainly not find a position in the pros, but i also think he could just be a superstar in the right scheme. Tough player to get a handle on for sure

I wouldn't be one of them. 8-8 would be a major disappointment IMO.

I was upset about how we lost to the Eagles. But sometimes, a game like that happens.

I was really annoyed that it happened again against a pretty bad Miami team - but we did lose Ben to a freak accident. We may have turned that one around had he not been injured.

The game against the cheaters was relatively competitive despite not having Ben.

But the way we lost to the Rats was completely unacceptable. A division game for first place and we played scared. Awful. Pitiful. Embarrassing.

                      Miami game Ben gets hurt

Pats game we played hard but it's the Pats.

Baltimore was Bens first game back and once again he was rusty as hell

Dallas game is when we should start to worry. If Ben looks like trash and Haley calls a stinker it's time to warm up the coaching chairs.

Like I said, I think they'll come out firing vs. the Cowboys. It's the Browns game the next week that I'm more worried about.

This. We've been far more inconsistent (and downright pitiful) than we've been impressive.

I hope I'm wrong (again) but I feel like we're in for a rough time against the Cowgirls (ala the Eagles game). The only encouraging thing is that it's at home and our team has no chance of taking them lightly.

I've always liked Danny Smith who has coached in this league for some time. However our special teams at the half way point just need to be better. If they are not he would surely be on the block. This type of issue is better discussed at season end then today.
