Steelers leading 36-0, 4th quarter. Ben is playing. Just saying.
Why is Ben still in the game?

Bell too I thought should have exited sooner. What was Alex Smith doing in the game for KC right to the end?Comment

Yeah, right. Teams that have been completely dominated the entire game are always coming back to score 35 points in the last 8 minutes. Happens constantly. I don't know what I was thinking. It is clearly sound football to keep your aging star QB in the game at that point and you should definitely call long passing plays on first down also. I mean, why burn the clock with a run or a safe dump pass when you can expose multiple players to pointless injuries.Comment

Somehow I thought I read you said at halftime....my bad...with 8 minutes to go in game...I agree.....Yeah, right. You don't pull Ben because you don't want to mess with that rhythm, Tomlin knows what he is doing. You also don't pull Bell because it's his first game back, you want him to get the reps. When you are trying to comeback from a beating like we took the week before, the last thing you want to do is pull your guys out when they are building their confidence back up.Comment

The "last thing" you should want to do is ruin your season by having the best QB in the history of the franchise injured for playing in garbage time of a blowout. The notion that the Steelers need to keep Ben in the game for these intangible reasons of confidence in a massive blowout is psycho-babble rationalization of what is in reality a reckless and strange tendency that the Steelers have shown for years. You don't pull Ben because you don't want to mess with that rhythm, Tomlin knows what he is doing. You also don't pull Bell because it's his first game back, you want him to get the reps. Ben doesn't need confidence. He is a future HOF QB. And whatever "rhythm" concern there was from last week, had been addressed by the 4th quarter by which time he had thrown for 5 TDs. I don't understand what this rhythm concern even is. If a QB needs to develop some sort of rhythm, it would seem to be something that happens each and every game. It's not some sort of magic power that is built up in the 4th quarter of a blow out that can then be drawn upon in subsequent games whenever Ben needs to conjure up some rhythm. If the game worked like that, Ben would play every pre-season game. But he doesn't because of the threat of injury.Comment

wrong... once the game is wrapped up sit those guys down. You don't pull Ben because you don't want to mess with that rhythm, Tomlin knows what he is doing. I have no problem with Ben playing the entire game when those games actually count...even if he plays for 3 minutes longer than some people think he should...
But, that's just me...Actually, my post was NOT about you...but, if the shoe fits, feel free to lace that &!+€# up and wear it.Comment

Ben Roethlisberger named AFC offensive player of the week
Posted by Darin Gantt on October 5, 2016, 9:46 AM EDT
Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger only needed a quarter to effectively beat the Chiefs Sunday night.
And even if he had stopped after 15 minutes (and maybe he should have), he’d have probably still won AFC offensive player of the week.
Roethlisberger was 22-of-27 for 300 yards and five touchdowns, making easy work of the Kansas City defense. He was up 22-0 after the first quarter, and stayed in the game long enough for the team to prove its point about moving past an embarrassing loss to the Eagles.
Roethlisberger has 11 touchdowns so far this season, made more impressive since that Eagles game featured none. It’s his 14th player of the week award.
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2016/10/05/ben-roethlisberger-named-afc-offensive-player-of-the-week/Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.
Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.
We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.
We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.Comment
