I wonder if the new CBA is the reason for all these injuries

I know injuries are part of the game but letting vets relax in practice seems to be taking a toll on the NFL.Seems like there are more injuries these last few years in thr first 4 games than usual.

    just a thought.

Wouldn't it be ironic if some of the changes they made to try to reduce injuries actually served to increase injuries?

Are they letting the vets "relax" in practice or are they reducing the amount of hard contact in practice? When I see the word "relax" I envision them sitting around in directors' chairs drinking lemonade.

Throwing these players into regular season games with only limited amounts of padded practice to get the body ready for the rigors of the season is like throwing a novice guitarist who hasn't built up finger calluses on stage with the Eddie Van Halen songbook and expecting a three hour concert.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

Ryan Shazier, Ramon Foster “very questionable” for Week Four
Posted by Josh Alper on September 27, 2016, 12:54 PM EDT

The Steelers will have several injured players to monitor as they head toward Sunday night’s matchup with the Chiefs.

During a Tuesday session with the media, coach Mike Tomlin said, via Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, that linebacker Ryan Shazier, guard Ramon Foster and wide receiver Eli Rogers are all “very questionable” for this week’s game.

Shazier aggravated a knee injury that he suffered in the season opener, but he was able to return to last Sunday’s loss to the Eagles. Foster didn’t return after injuring his chest and Rogers’ day came to an early end thanks to a toe injury.

Linebacker Lawrence Timmons left the game with a shin injury and Tomlin said Tuesday that he suffered a puncture wound, although he expects the veteran to be fine for this week’s game. Safeties Sean Davis and Robert Golden will be evaluated over the course of the week, leaving the Steelers with plenty of question marks.

More certain is the return of running back Le’Veon Bell, who has returned from suspension and is expected to resume his leading role on the Pittsburgh offense.

I believe the speed and size of today's players has contributed more to the amount of injuries more than any other factors. More hitting in practice would probably only exacerbate the issue.

Agreed, Burgh. I don't see how more mini-automobile collisions in training camp or practice get the body in shape for more and harder collisions on Sunday. I'm doubting you would find many doctors who would prescribe more hitting as a way to diminish injuries.

News this morning is that J. J. Watt is out for the season after re-injuring his back. Meanwhile, Rob Gronkowski has been out with another injury, this time a hamstring. Missed the first two games and played only a few minutes in the third. The guy hasn't played a full 16 games for four years now and this will be the fifth. It's a league of China dolls.

Time to institute a weight limit for players by position!

What about a speed limit too. Velocity is part of the equation. But seriously, the concussion problem is bad enough. Now with all these other injuries seemingly more and more frequent, it's foreseeable that the sport may die out. We'll become fans of the Riverhounds.

I think some players need to wear more protective padding,etc...I know they complain it slows them down but....

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

Looking forward to Oviedo referring to the robots as "replaceable iron units," "replaceable aluminum units," "replacement copper units," etc.
