    The Offense

The offense struggled on Sunday. It did not look good at all. A lot of that was attributable to the conditions - Ben was off on a lot of throws that he normally hits. And yet, despite that, the Steelers ended up scoring 24 points against a talented defense.

To me, that says a lot about how good this offense is, in a number of ways. We all expected more from them - because they have set a high bar. And, despite the struggles, they scored 24 points in a really tough game.

I thought they played fine....a lot of slipping around, both Ben and the WRs in any out of their breaks. Brown had one bad drop wide open that could have relaly busted the game open.

I love the aggressiveness of continuing to take shots down field to coates

I do think the rain had an effect. Plus someone yesterday posted that Ben made a few trips to the locker room and that perhaps he wasn't feeling well. I often wonder about how these guys are actually feeling, and we know they play even if they have a cold, stomach problems or whatever.

(Remember Dwight White playing in SB IX with pneumonia, after just getting out of the hospital and losing weight from it? I re-watch that game every once in a while.)

24 points when balls are slipping out of hands is going to win you most of those games. The offense is going to be just fine.
        Trolls are people too.

My post wasn't a criticism of the offense at all. I think it's awfully impressive that they scored 24 points on a bad day...

If 24 points on an off day versus a solid defense is what I have to look forward to, I feel pretty good about this group. The fact the defense has been averaging just over 15 points a game is even more encouraging.

The thing I love about our offense is our o-line. Our o-line is still underrated. Announcers be touting DAL line like it is the Great Wall, but I put our line against theirs easily. Especially with Munchak, who is a real guru.

If Munchak got a Justin Gilbert type project (that Lake has), I'd be confident that Munchak could turn him into a player.
I wasn't hired for my disposition.

Playing in bad weather against a good defense while missing two important players is going to make any offense look sloppy. The fact that the Steelers were able to score 24 points in spite of it all is encouraging.

I know nobody else will give him props, but David Johnson has been looking very good as a lead blocker. He gets one good block and then gets another on the same play. Way to go DJ, good signing, his versatility has been in evidence especially with Nix being injured. Why anybody hates this guy just completely mystifies me.

Wasted talent because of whats between the ears?

                    Munchak fix Mike Adams?

With Lake at secondary coach we had the number one pass defense with a weak pass rush, Troy hurt and NO pro bowl caliber corners.
Lewis went from benched disappointment to "GOT PAID" with Lakes coaching.

Will Gay was a despised scrub BACKUP who COULD NOT MAKE THE CARDS ROSTER before Lake, to OUR BEST CORNER.

Lake is working with feces at the position. When his talent was "good" not great, we had the best pass defense in the league.

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

Here's hoping he breaks the Steelers record of 6 interceptions taken to the house..

This was from the week 2 NFL Recap on The Ringer:

Pittsburgh’s 24–16 win over the Bengals was both sloppy and sopping wet, but a three-play stretch in the third quarter was a reminder of what the Steelers’ offense can do even on the days when it isn’t humming. After throwing a near interception to safety George Iloka on second-and-1 from his own 32-yard line, Ben Roethlisberger managed to find tight end Xavier Grimble on third down as nose tackle Domata Peko hung from his left shoulder. Roethlisberger followed that with a perfect play-action throw to Sammie Coates for 53 yards down the right hash mark and then a rifle shot to tight end Jesse James for a 9-yard touchdown. The entire sequence took 1:40 of game action; for a moment, all that rain falling in Pittsburgh turned into fire.
